My mums neighbor took in a stray a little while ago it was forever roaming around her property and she started feeding it it'd had countless litters in her shed and unfortunetly she never managed to catch any of them to rehome but this time round she managed to lure momma inside and the kits are now 4 weeks old :) I have a bunch of unused whiskas kitten food that I was thinking of taking around for Momma and the babies not to mention saving meowmys pockets from feeling the pinch! My question is will this food be okay for a lactating momma?

Is it wet or dry?  If wet, it should be OK.

It depends also on what she is getting otherwise.

Also, she was hitherto a homeless, living of what she could get. AND had litters outside.  Im sure her food now is better than it has been ever, even if she got some from your mom already earlier.

I say, go for it.    If she has a big litter, she may need something more, but as part of her diet it cant be wrong.

(for more exact answer, I would need to know exact what sort, so I can google,, and what it contains)

Last, not least.  Remember,  Spaying / neutering (TNR) is your friend with homeless whom are difficult to adopt out.

Good luck!

Whiskas kitten food both wet & dry is what my lactating cat is eating and has been since I took her in when I realised she was pregnant (she was also a stray)

The kittens are all black and I am now worrying about how hard it could be to find them homes!
I suppose you do have friends.    Or at least  people you know.

OK, you do the routine: Phone around your friends and people you know, and talk warmthly for the kittens.

.   You dont need to ask them personally if they want one or a couple of black kittens.  You ask for advice...     And hopefully it starts their thoughts  and  ideas going.    :)

Variation: if you are shy, but do have a friend who is talkative and has good hand with folks - ask this friend to phone in your name.   Its often easier to beg for someone else than for yourself.

If you are succesfull and lucky,  and find more adoptive homes than you do have kittens?     No problem, you can surely help them connect with some nice rescue group or nice shelter.   Or even - idea! - a high kill shelter...

Good luck!

It shouldn't be more difficult to find black kittens homes than it is to find ones for kittens of other colors, since you're in the UK. A lot of people in the UK and Ireland consider black cats "lucky". Stressing how much they look like little black panthers might help, too.

My mums neighbor
I see you are not yourself the rescuer.  The rescuer is a neighbour of your mom.

This means however, you do have natural access to THREE different networks!

Your own friends and people you know, your moms, and this neighbours.

Ask them mom and neighbour to write down the names and telephone numbers they are thinking on...  You phone, refer to your mom who is their friend, etc....

Also, you dont only phone to people without cat and ask if they can imgine to have a cat.

Do phone also to people who DO have a cat,  and ask if they need a companion for this cat.   Most cats do prefer to have a companion.

Remember also, many dogs are good friends with cats.  Not only smallish dogs.

If someone is an animal friend, even if they are dog people, they may adopt a cat too...  Especielly a kitten.

Yes I am taking all this into account I have reached out to a lot of people I'd take one in myself but unfortunetly with a baby on the way and currently living in a tiny two bed flat I barely have room for us and our one single cat as it is :( Which is a shame as they are darling little things.
