Is it ok if I feed my kitten 6oz of wet food a day? The can says to feed him 1/2 to 1 can per pound separated into 3-4 feedings a day. He weighs 3-4 pounds. I work all day so I usually feed him 1 can in the morning and 1 after I get home from work. Does this seem ok?

How old is your kitten?  Young kittens need to eat more than twice per day.  Does he still seem hungry.  6 oz may not be enough, depending on whether or not he's entering a growing stage.  It really all depends on WHAT you are feeding too.  There are just some variables we don't know about.  I would probably feed him at least 3 meals per day, once in the morning, once when you get home, and then again before bedtime, and feed him until he quits eating, which could very well be just two the cans for the moment.  Certainly once he's an adult, 6 oz should be plenty...probably MORE than plenty, but again, it depends on what food.

Maybe this article will help  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/how-much-food-should-i-feed-my-cat

Hmmm, well if he's used to that schedule and doing ok, then I guess it's ok to just feed twice a day.  But if you just got him and are just putting him on that schedule, I'm still inclined to say he needs food more often, at least for a couple more months.  Nutro kitten is good
.  As for the amount...there is a big difference between 3 or 4 lbs
.  But bottom line, kittens should really eat as much as they want, because they are growing, and they need lots of food to do that.  Some days they need more food than others because of growth spurts.  So I would give him more than just a set amount of 2 cans and see if he'll eat it.  If he does, then he's still hungry.  If he doesn't, then he's ok and you can put it in the fridge for later.

I would suggest to add in a third meal. You can feed before work, right after and then at bedtime. I have had kittens eat up to 10-12 oz of food in a single day during growth spurts.

Just wanted to add this, that kittens metabolize so much faster than adults, which is why he might act like he is starving in the evening when it's feeding time.

If you are able to, make it 3 meals a day, at least for another couple/few months.

Thank u @catwoman707 no wonder he does act like he's starving when I get home. The best I can do is probably feed him at 9 in the morning then 1:30 afternoon then after work around 10:30 idk if he'll eat the whole can though if I give it to him 4 hours and a half after he just ate

That sounds like a good time plan, and he doesn't really need to eat 3 whole cans, that is quite a bit, but it's okay if he leaves some in the dish too, it doesn't go bad that fast actually.

Then maybe he will finish it off around 3 or so and not be quite so hungry at 10:30 pm. (at least not starved acting!)

I would feed him canned in the morning an d before bed and leave kibble out the rest of the time so he can free feed.
