My tabby cat has recently had a lot of cat fights, also got some scratches on her belly that I noticed just about 1 week ago. Interestingly, since just a few days now I noticed her belly 'hanging out' or 'down' so I thought it was a hernia from an accident or that a person kicked her (which they do here in Jamaica). I was worried, but the cat is totally fine as normal, eats, plays etc. and I also didn't feel anything suspicious. So looking for an image on the web and a condition that could cause it, I came to 'primordial pouch' ... a belly flap the cat primarily uses to protect her from another cat kicking with her feet and attempting to scratch up her abdomen!!! She almost grew that overnight - within a few days of getting the scratch on her abdomen!!! Amazing nature!!!

Well, it's not something she grew overnight
, but it's definitely something that all cats have and is part of natures way of protecting them from various things.  Big jungle cats (think lions and tigers) have it too.  I don't know why, but it's just not always noticeable all the time
