I just rescued a 5 wk old kitten. She has an upper respiratory infection.I got some amoxicillan and erythromycin ointment from the vet. (i'm sure i misspelled those)She said the inflammation from the infection caused the 3rd lid to fuse and that they would try to correct it when she comes for her spay. I was wondering if there was a massaging or something that would help as her spay won't be for about 3 months from now.

If you are able to put ointment in her eye it may soften and loosen it up so it will be open.

I was just talking about Idoxuridine yesterday in another thread, the drops are amazing for uri related eye issues.

They would penetrate her inner lid well enough for it to open up also, and is an excellent cure too.

Not all vets carry it, and some will order it upon request too.

I always like to keep things as natural as I can when it comes to caring for my cats. One of the best things I have found for treating eye issues is coconut oil. It needs to be virgin, cold pressed to get the full benefits . My favorite brand is called tropical traditions and can be ordered online or bought at your local health food store. It is perfectly safe for using on your kittens eye inside and around the eye also. It has natural antibiotics and promotes healthy skin and healing. I always try this first and save the stronger more invasive treatments as a last resort. Hope your kitten is feeling better soon.
