If I don't put dry food for him, he wouldn't eat at all and he would meow all night for his dry food. I really don't want to stress him out by preventing him from eating dry food, I just want him to kind of get used to eating raw food... any advice?

http://www.thecatsite.com/a/transit...-to-a-new-type-of-food-canned-raw-or-homemade  is a good article on transitioning kitties off of dry food.  It may take a while and most kitties won't take to a sudden complete change.  It may take time and patience and your kitty may never come completely off the dry.  When I say still getting dry I am talking about a very small amount either as treats or as toppers for other food.  Your kitty does have to continue to eat enough to avoid liver issues, the rule of thumb is 15 calories per pound of their ideal weight per day.  With kitties the old adage, they will eat when their hungry enough, doesn't work.  A cat will starve themselves rather than eat something they don't want or as is often the case, don't recognize as food.
