My cat zorro started to stand holding one paw up about 2 days ago but was walking on it fine though after looking at it there was dry blood and pus on his main pad on his right paw, i gave it a day or 2 but he didn't seem to improve so off to the vet he went yesterday.

After the vet examined him he right away said you could try various creams and such but at the end of the day they are a load of crap, he said he would have to be put under a general and have a good look at it.

Ended up he needed a a good chunk of it cut out and the sides brought in and stitched back together and has to go back in 2 weeks to have the stitches out, he is also on antibiotics and anti fungal tablets here's a photo of his paw back from the vets:

EDIT: i think allot of the brownish colour around his pad is probably from the iodine.

it looks bad but hopefully it will heal up ok.

thanks for reading

Poor zorro! I'm glad the vet took care of it.

I'm curious, did the vet say anything about litter box use? Such as cleaning the paw after?

Well bad news, only four days later and his stitches have come out and the wound spewing puss and blood everywhere, when i asked what to do for after-care the first time the vet said  "sure let him be, let him run around as normal", yea right. So he has to go back under a general which is dangerous enough and have it re-operated on. He also said THERE WILL BE MORE CHARGES! I said yea sure to make him happy, but he's not getting another cent. Photo:

Yea, I would check another vet.

I remember one of my cats cut his paw on a razor blade in my tub- no where as bad as your poor baby's paw. The vet used glue and bandaged up that paw as if he had broken it. The vet also told me to keep his activity low for a few days.

That's why I questioned the litterbox. Is have her give the paw a good cleaning and bandage it- insist on it
