My cat is just over a year and a half old we just had him nurtured a few days ago but he's still amorous and still a bit spiteful. Is this normal?

Also he had an operation on he's tail as he had a fight with another cat and it got infected and there's an awful smell coming from it should we take him back to the vets..?

HELP?!

Yes and yes. It can take a few weeks for cats hormones to adjust after a neutering.  At this point he may even still be capable of getting a female pregnant.

Regarding his tail, if you believe it is infected, then yes, please, take him back to the vet.

Hi Jimbob,

If you cat is a year and a half old he'll be FULL of boy hormones, especially at this time a year. It can take a few weeks after being neutered before he calms down.

The bad smell coming from his tail is something much more serious. Infections can be deadly so please take him back to the vet as soon as possible. He probably needs the wound cleaning and a course of antibiotics to clear it up. Cat saliva contains all kinds of dangerous bacteria, so if was bitten on the tail it's probably infected.

Him being a bit spiteful might be because his tail hurts.

Keep us posted, I hope he's going to be OK.

And he still may think he wants to try to make kittens. For a long time.   It's not abnormal.  Some just get the impulse again now and then.  Some get the impulse often.  Usually, you can expect the impulse to disappear when they get older, even if they've kept it up during their younger years.

It does take a while. It took mine to act himself again over 6 months.
