Tuxedo's microchip is encased in ... a cyst. We hope.

Wow am I tired today or what? :lol3: Stan removed the CHIP as well.

We don't know how large the incision is! He was sent home wearing this:

The instructions are to leave it on for three days. We left a message this evening for Stan to call us tomorrow morning. Tux keeps picking at it and getting it stuck in his mouth. If there's a medical reason for it, fine. But if it's just to keep him from bothering with his stitches.... the little boy has had 3 or 4 surgeries, and never bothered his stitches. :cross:

Other than compression (think TED hose), I would imagine that the shirt is to protect his stitches.  Hope you hear back soon, I know what it's like to know my animal and when something is actually making a situation worse.

looks like a dinner jacket to me

but I am a big proponent of pain elimination...did he get something for that?

if so he shouldn't fight the wrap as much and

I would leave it on

we all know how wounds itch when they're healing

Obviously he was given something for pain at the time of the procedure. But an ongoing pain med is not needed, it was a very superficial surgery in that sense, no deep tissue work involved. :) He's not in any pain. He was picking at the wrap because my cats are not used to anything on their bodies - not even collars.

Stan said it was only needed for the first 12 - 24 hours to soak up any seepage, go ahead and take it off. Tuxie is one very happy camper. And, as expected, he's leaving the incision alone. It's only about 2.5 inches long and has just 4 stitches in it. Assuming it heals just fine, we'll probably take them out ourselves. That's what we've done every other time he's had surgery.

Years ago I bought a clipper for hang nails that looked like regular nail clippers...they work great for removing tiny little stitches!  Clip through one stitch, then lightly grab a free end and pull.

:lol3: In this instance, it'd be safe to assume no news is good news. If it was not benign, I'd be asking for vibes and help! :lol3:

Sorry I forgot to update! :anon: It was a ... complicated sounding adenoma. Completely benign, 100% excised. Basically an age-related thing, quite common. It formed off a something duct off of a hair follicle.

:D

*PHEW*

And THANK YOU for asking and for caring! :hugs:

Glad he's OK!  Dumb question and I may have missed you answering it already, but what the microchip in it?

Nope! It was just near it. We had him remove the microchip as long as he was in the general area.
