We hope that's what this is.

Tuxedo's vet, of course, is out due to retinal surgery now that we NEED him right now! :lol3: (I hope all goes well! :vibes: ). The first available appointment for surgery was April 1. We scheduled it, no prior check-up, just going straight in for removal and biopsy. Hopefully it won't grow, we really want Stan to be the one to perform the surgery.

There's always the possibility it is cancerous.

:cross: It's just encased in benign tissue.

Oh, no, stuff keeps on happening it seems.
Yes, lots of vibes that it's nothing serious.

Good luck!

Hearing these things make me really worried about getting my cat microchipped.  Maybe I'll just stick with the collar and tag method.

Ugh...
Lots of vibes that it is benign!

How did you discover this? Did you feel it when you were petting him?

I'll start with this: Most tumors, in animals and humans, are benign.

Second, if you gently palpate the mass, and see if it seems "loose," as in, separate from the deeper tissue, as in, in a pocket in the skin, chances are very good that it's merely a cyst.

Do watch for depressed appetite, weariness, or other signs of infection, especially if the microchip was injected recently.

Sending positive vibes, good luck!

Hope your kitty will be alright. This is why I don't do any microchips. I collar and write the name on neon collar using a sharpie marker.

the reason I didn't get my (indoor) cat chipped was because I wouldn't let a needle that big in my arm, let alone neck...are you not going to have a new one put in?

Is today the day still for Tuxie's surgery? Loads of vibes either way coming to him that this will be a simple and "not-to-worry" procedure. :hugs: :rub: :heart3: :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Well, it is April 1.

Tuxie isn't having the procedure done today. :(

Stan was out due to retinal surgery, and today was (supposed to be) his first day back in surgery. I called yesterday morning to confirm Stan was back. Yes - he's back, but his surgeries for today were all rescheduled. *roll eyes* The person I spoke to in the morning didn't know that, or the decision was made later in the day - but there IS, in fact, a message on the answering machine later in the day from them, calling to reschedule. In the meantime, we all got up early, drove 45 minutes to the vet, only to turn around and come back home. The good news is that Stan did take a look at him while we were there, and is comfortable waiting the TWO WEEKS we're going to have to wait to take him back.

Yes, we could have one of the other vets do it. We could have the local vet do it. But the "team" of vets we work with now evolved over the years because of who is good at what (and with who). If it is not an emergency, Stan is the surgeon we prefer. Especially when it comes to Tux, as Stan was the one who saw him every day, and every other day and every week (&etc) for seven years. :heart2:

:sigh:

Well, then.... STAN IS THE MAN for Tuxie and waiting another two weeks doesn't sound like it will be a problem. A good sign, I hope !! :cross: I know how much it means to have that history and confidence with special vets. :vibes::vibes::vibes: :heart2:

Glad to hear your vet is comfortable waiting.  Munchies microchip abscessed out of his skin about 6 months after it was implanted.  I took that as a sign that his body rejected it.

If Stan is willing to wait two weeks, then it sounds hopeful that this is not anything serious.

Tuxie had the cyst removed today. He is already awake, and we can pick him up at 1:00pm.

Tuxie is looking "GREAT!" :D

Interestingly, the cyst is NOT surrounding the microchip! It is just a fibrous cyst. :dk: Stan removed the chip while he was at it. The cyst is being sent out for biopsy, of course. Results may take a week. But Stan is pretty confident it's benign. :cross: :vibes:

Sounds like surgery went well (expected).

It makes me feel confident that Stan feels confident that the cyst if likely benign. Nonetheless, you can never have enough vibe-sending emoticons....

Glad that this is behind Tuxie (the surgery part) AND staying extremely positive that it is a benign cyst. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: Glad that he is home and hope his incision is small and will heal quickly.
