I find I need to find a home for my daughter's 2 cats. She is to undergo a bone marrow/stem cell transplant to treat lymphoma and she will be allowed no pets for a year. She lives near Fayetteville, NC. While I would love to find someone to foster them for year, I realize this is unrealistic as is finding a way to get them to my home in NY where I have someone who lives in my home and who cares for my zoo. If anyone has any ideas how to resolve this I would love to hear any suggestions.

If you might be able to help please PM me and I can get you in touch with the person looking. Even if you are able to offer transport.

It is NOT unrealistic to find a way to get them to new york where you live and it will cost you nothing!  There is a group called Underground Railroad Rescued Kitty Network (URRKN) on Facebook whose sole purpose is to get rescued or adopted animals to their new homes.  It's all volunteer and works like pony express, creating a "Love Train" of drivers wherein each driver takes one leg of maybe an hour's drive one way and passes the cats on to the next driver  These are all experienced cat people and if an overnight is required, that gets put in also at an approved location.  I'm sure your daughter would feel much better knowing YOU have her cats and they are safe and she can get them back after she comes through this terrible ordeal.  I'm sure everyone on URRKN would love to help!  The receiving party has to belong to URRKN (no charge, anyone can join) to facilitate the transfer.  You can go on Facebook and search Underground Railroad Rescued Kitty Network to get to the main page and follow the links to find out about it.  If by chance you are NOT a member of Facebook, here is a direct link to contact one of the administrators:  Direct questions to Tina LaBlanc or any admin: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1o-AEim05W8v6CG1nBI3wgIpz5fsYDwY29lUWASEqAIE/edit
