I've browsed through some of the articles and threads, but haven't found one that addresses this question - is it OK to give your cat cooked meat (beef, pork, poultry, fish) as a treat?

I ask because Simba has a very touchy stomach - he loves soft food, but it really upsets his stomach. He now gets only IAMs hard hairball remedy food, with an occasional Pounce for a treat. However, I have started giving him small pieces of cooked meat at dinnertime - plain meat, nothing spicy or greasy. He really loves it, and it doesn't bother his stomach. I'm just wondering if there are any health-related reasons I shouldn't be doing this.

My kids get boiled chicken, shredded every once in a while. You don't want to give you cat any meat that is raw because of bacteria, unless you are following to the letter the RAW diet that many feed their cats. You don't want to give your cat anything marinated, especially in garlic and onions, and you don't want to give them just people food all the time either. But once in a great while, it is fine.

My cats are weird.. they dont care for cooked meat. Some cooked chicken occasionally maybe but they prefer their cat food.

Cheese on the other hand is a popular one! Though I only let them have one small bite rarely since its a dairy product.
