Poor Rumpus should have weighed at least 15 lbs being male and a Main Coon. I never could get him to be more than 12 lbs. He was very fearful and not trusting at all when he came to me, hiding under furniture and even under the covers of my bed when nobody was in the room. From what I was told he had never been cuddled, just brought out for company to admire because he was larger than the average cat and had those beautiful tufts on his ears. In his later years his so-called mom became mentally unstable, lived with a family who had mean teenagers who teased him unmercifully. It broke my heart to hear this. Eventually some kind soul talked the family into giving him up, he was fostered for a short time and then he came to live with me. It broke my heart again when I had to put him down because he had kidney failure and would not eat anymore. Just thinking about that makes me cry all over again.

he waves his tail and bits of it come off, he needs combing

on the dining table-that's a no-no, but he thinks it's his rightful place

on the cat tree my grandson made for me

he used to like to hide under the papasan chair which I still have from my college days, I take naps in it - so did he after he had come out of his shell

his royal highness - he thinks!

that's one bushy tail -glugg-glugg, there goes the water

he was very dainty about drinking, always came up from behind the fountain

double door stop, yes, that's a brick with a needlepoint cover

Pictures make him come alive again and I have tons of them

I'm so glad that other "grey" cats are welcome here, not just the sleek bluish ones.

Here are more pics of Bebe whom I named after Brigitte Bardot, the French movie sta

2 pics of Bebe in the throes of catnip which I grew in a pot on the third-floor balcony

there she is in her "Litter Robot" the best, never-jamming litter box

eyes are glowing like headlights

just love those "devil's eyes"

there is Rumpus, the Maine Coon cat looking down from the top of the cat tree to--------------------look down below

Bebe, Persian, half his size, looking very threatening-------------yeah right, lol.

r, because of the big eyes and all that hair

Love those last 2 pictures @segelkatt.    Have you thought about making cat pages for Rumpus and Bebe?  From your posts here I think their pages would look great and give even more oportunity for us to hear about their big pursonalities.
There are lots of memorial pages there and it sounds like you might enjoy making one for Rumpus, and I'd enjoy looking at it as your photos of him are full of character.

That picture of Rumpus swishing his tail and the clumps of fur on the cushion next to him make me feel a whole lot better about the fur that used to come off my tabby girls - I thought they molted badly!

Xena is a real princess @Nebula  and your photographs show her off beautifully.  I love how she is showing off her fingers in that middle photo, and just a hint of a little thumb there.  I think she is going to be quite a handfull.

Thanks! She is already a hand full ! LOL. One of the characteristics I read was that Russian Blues like to "pose" in order to show how elegant they are! :)

Mine doesn't, he either runs off or closes his eyes as soon as he so much as senses a camera coming out!  You are lucky your blue babe likes to pose.   It looks like she is a real cuddler too!

My Sascha used to love to pose for pictures and he was just a grey short haired cat, nothing special in that department but he was the most loving and empathetic cat i have ever known. He did not say "meow", just "mow" without the "me".  If there was a squabble within the cat family he would run to see that nobody was hurt, he did the same if I was sick or cried out because I cut or burnt myself in the kitchen (accidents happen) and would go around making his pitiful "mow" noises until he knew everything was ok. I miss him a lot

Rumpus, a Main Coon, is on the top of the tree; Sascha is at the bottom. The other picture is of Sascha sitting on the back of the sofa minding his own business.

Ms. Ana today... Hanging in my lap.
We are blessed to have such affectionate cats. Our last 3 were half Siamese and they decided when they wanted to be affectionate.
We got the meezers at around the same age but they were never so loving and cuddly all the time.
Rare we don't have at least one or two cats if not all 4 cats piled on the bed plus the dog.

This is also the only one I found in California, and at that in Southern California, they do not ship, you have to go there and meet the breeder, they are called Brats Kats Nebelungs, phone 626-357-9154
Is that person at BKN selling those cats as Russian Blues? Just fyi, they aren't. Really the only true Russian Blues are pedigreed cats, and they are very rare, to boot.

A lot of rescues classify cats based on which breed they look like. This is just clever marketing, as less than 2% of cats on the planet are pedigreed.

My Oksana, for instance was listed as a Russian Blue by the rescue. She is blue, but she's not a Russian Blue. She's a blue domestic shorthair.

I'm pretty sure my Xena is a Russian Blue. She has every characterisitc, the bottle green eyes, the lilac paws, the silver tips, etc.

I'm not looking for this thread to turn in to a discussion on pedigree, however in the interests of those looking to aquire blue kittens or cats and perhaps pay a lot of money for them:  if you are paying for a cat or kitten on the basis of it having 'pedigree' then it has to have pedigree registration papers which should be transferred in to your name when you adopt the cat.  If there are no pedigree papers your cat will not be eligible for pedigree status as there is no gentic history to evidence the breed type.  Cats can look just like the pedigree but not have the breeding history required.  Very few cats are pedigree, and of those that are an even smaller pecentage are Russian Blue or Nebelung, but that does not mean the cats are any less gorgeous in every way.  You just shouldn't pay as much for them, or breed from them as if they were pedigree!

According to Wikipedia, Maltese is the recognised name for long and short hair cats who have a mostly grey / blue colouring and do not have pedigree registration for some other type of cat  or fit another fine description such as a silver or blue tabby.  I like that all mostly grey cats have a special name as it fits with how beautiful they all are.

I do have a GCCF standard registered pedigree Russian Blue but the only reason for this is I couldn't get a rescue cat because of the tight accommodation rules set by the rescue organisations where I live (UK) and I didn't know anyone with kittens needing homes after my previous cats had both crossed the rainbow bridge.  I have good friends who have cats that look almost identical to Mouse but are not pedigree.  All just as cute but not quite as daft as my boy.

I belong to a cat club and we take in strays, cats who have lost their human for one reason or another and also provide for one feral colony. When we get a cat that is obviously a pure bred such as Persians, Siamese or Main Coons we never advertise them  for adoption as that but as a "mixed" when papers are not available. It makes everyone happy.
