In our case, it's a hit and run. Rick took Hannah to church this morning. And when he came home, he came in the house and told me to go outside. Somebody hit him in the parking lot.....and left. He has no idea who it was, but there's a really nice area on the drivers' side that's scratched all to heck and dented and everything else. And whoever it was left the parking lot. I'll have to call the insurance company first thing tomorrow morning and see what we can have done.  Because the car needs to repaired.

I hope it doesn't snow for awhile because I'm going to be driving Clarence.

I'm so.......I can't begin to tell you. It just doesn't pay sometimes. It just doesn't pay.

And sometimes not being able to cuss a blue streak on this board is very frustrating. (sorry)

Oh that sucks!!!  I hope your insurance company will step up and take care of it.

We haven't been involved in any accidents, thankfully, but once a thief vandalized the cars on our cul-de-sac.  Six cars in total.  I'm not really 'into' cars and drive a 10 year old Mini Cooper with no special stereo or any whistles and bells.  So they got into my car (which was unlocked) but found nothing worth taking
and left it alone.  Hubby IS into nice cars so he had a nice Mercedes with an expensive stereo--they ripped up the whole back seat in order to tear out the speakers.  It was a mess.  Our neighbor had a brand new SUV that they tore up--ripped out the dog grate she had just installed in the back of the vehicle, just for spite, I guess, since they didn't take it.

People can be such jerks.

Since it was a hit and run, even though it was on private property, you should file a police report and make sure they take pictures of any paint transfer to Hannah.

Then have the insurance company do the same thing. Find out if your church has any security cameras up and get any footage from them. I realize that it may have been one of your brothers or sisters in the church, but it could easily have been a drunk or stoned driver, or someone who was going to break into cars in the lot, heard someone, got scared and took off.

I hope this doesn't make your insurance go up. If the person responsible can be found, their insurance will be the one who pays.

And if you feel like cussing a blue streak, PM me with it. I may even learn some new words, particularly if you speak a foreign language.

How frustrating!  I absolutely would report it.  Maybe body shops can be contacted as well...they may catch the other person.

The first thing he did was call the police. They wrote a report on it, so we'll have to wait and see. He took pictures with his phone. I'm calling the insurance company first thing tomorrow morning. I'm so bloody disgusted right now, I could spit.

(Thanks for the PM offer, Terry. I'm over my snit. But man, I was......angry. When the Cruiser was about as old as Hannah is now, somebody smacked into him in our parking lot at work. I was driving through the parking lot when the woman backed out of the parking stall and hit Clarence right along the front of the quarter panel on the passenger side. Woman got out of the car, blubbering and carrying on. Telling me how sorry she was, that she didn't see me coming, etc. Then her insurance company actually had the audacity to call me that night and tell me that it was my fault.  My insurance company took her insurance company to court. The judge ruled in our favor. Clarence was fixed and he looks OK. But it's the point of the thing. I swear I'm going to start driving clunkers.)

Awww, shucks. I thought I was going to learn some new words. The truck I drive is a 1982 GMC S15 Sierra with over 220,000 miles on it. If anybody hits it, ehhh. I bought it 6 years ago for $900.

Oh no. I am so sorry your car got hit. I don't want to think someone Rick goes to church with would hit his car and leave. I hope they find who did such a thing. That happened to us years ago. We had bought our Buick two weeks before. We parked in the Wal Mart parking lot and didn't find the damage to the car until we were leaving my sisters house. Then we went to the police station to file a report. It just happened that Wal Mart normally had cameras on the roof that would have take pictures, but they were removed because the roof was being painted. Some people just don't know how to drive.

Talk to the managers of the store (or stores if a strip mall) and find out if there are any surveillance cameras pointed to the area of the parking lot where this happened.  If there is, ask them to preserve it.  You need to talk to them right now, because some systems recycle after 72 hours.

Good luck.

We think it happened at the church and there are no cameras.

I called our insurance company first thing this morning....have an appt for an estimate on Friday. I couldn't do it sooner than that because I have meetings after work this week and I would get shot if I missed them. The adjustor called me back and is going to set something up to come to work and look at the car.

That's just awful Pam. It's sad that someone would do that in a church parking lot - or anyplace else for that matter. Hope the insurance takes care of it very quickly.
