Cat Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

amended version

Now I lay and wait for you to rise
I pray that breakfast is more than flies
I have dreamt of tuna, cod and salmon
herring mackeral and last nights gammon
I wish you would stop that snore
For as a cat its such a bore
I watch you sleep and wish you would wake
As I have my eyes on that chunk of hake
I played with that ball of string, paper and glitter
Now get up and please change my litter
the room does smell, the house does stink
Ah - its got your nostrils, there is a wink.
You smell it - great - its time to move its true.
So please feed me and put me out - I need the loo
