I've tried to find powdered taurine produced in the USA, but apparently it doesn't exist.  Even the containers that say packed or even manufactured in the USA are sourced from China.  I have called 6 companies and asked them specifically where their taurine was sourced/produced.  I'm still waiting to hear from one, but the others said it was synthetic and produced in China.  One company would not admit to China and just said they get their suppliments from all over the world.

Does anyone know where to get taurine that is actually produced in the USA?

Nope.

Conventional wisdom says that all supplements are sourced from China... yes, that includes your own multivitamins.

Due to some goofy labeling loophole, even many so-called "European" supplements are actually sourced from China.

I'm assuming that you are looking to supplement a home cooked recipe... 'cause otherwise I'd say heart meats are loaded with taurine.

NOW powder is easy to use and inexpensive. I think it might be the only brand without fillers. On the bottle it says "Made in the USA", but I'm assuming you've called that company to check.

Organ meats are also high in bit A.  The general dog rule is 10% organ meat.  Does that apply to cats as well?

The rule of thumb for cats is 80% meat/poultry, 10% bone, 5% liver and 5% secreting organ like kidney.

When talking about raw meat are we talking raw as in the raw meat we buy ourselves or raw meat that you get elsewhere?

It could be either. Some people buy raw meat that is specifically for pet food, like the raw meats at Hare-Today.com. Other people buy raw meats from the supermarket or butcher shop because they don't have access to a web site like Hare-Today.com or for other reasons.

I buy my meat from the local grocery store because it is more convenient and cheaper than Hare Today. I try to buy the meat/poultry that is marked down in price -- often up to 50% off, Ritz has only refused the food once or twice in a three year period; I trust her nose better than mine so of course I throw that batch away.
I do splurge sometimes and buy (frozen) rabbit and fresh quail. At the seasonal farmer's market, if available, I buy chicken heads, sometimes organs, especially liver, and quail eggs, which I suppose are classified as a supplement.
