Biological question. Cat breathing.

My old main coon has a "talent" in that he can exhale both warm and cold breath at the same or time or alternate breaths. He always does it while purring. How in the world can he do this?

Hrm I'm really not sure how that would be possible. Are you sure it's his breathing or could some other factor be causing it to seem that way?

Regardless, it sounds like a question for the vet. If everything else seems okay it doesn't sound like it's something that's urgent, but perhaps worth mentioning at his annual exam. However, if it's concerning to you I would probably give them a call and ask if it's something he needs to be seen for. It's better to be safe than sorry but this just sounds like a cool little trick that he does!
