My cat is vomiting 3 - 4 times a day now and I'm trying to figure out why.

We've owned him since he was a kitten, and he's nearly 6 now. He is a stickily indoor cat, and has been neutered as well.

It all started a few weeks ago, he started having issues with chronic hairballs and would attempt to vomit them up almost daily, with little luck getting them out. I started feeding him Friskies Hairball Remedy treats to help fight them as we have done many times in the past, but nothing seems to help him. Many times his vomit contains a lot of hair, but other times it more of a brown, thick frothy layer. I've tried increasing his brushing, but he's always been a feisty cat - honestly rather violent- and getting close to pet him to brush him usually means getting attacked, which mean incidents leading to bleeding on my part. so it's very difficult to inspect him without trying to wrestle him down, but when i do nothing seems out of place, he doesn't act or seem like anything in the stomach area is tender.

He doesn't seem to be losing weight, is still very energetic, running and playing with the other cats, and still loves chasing me down every morning to bite me in the back of the legs as i run :)

We haven't changed food, litter or brought any new animals into the house. We even feed them the same kind of treats as we always have.

So I'm seeking advice, is it stress and hairballs or something more? and what can i do to help relieve his symptoms?

It may be that he has developed a food sensitivity, my cat throws up a LOT less since I switched him to Purina One for sensitive systems. Maybe your cat food changed their formula? My vet also gave me some medication for vomiting and I give it to him when he's bad. Please call your vet and see what they recommend. Good luck!

that may actually be it, although i buy the same bag, about 2 months ago i do believe the changed their formula cause the chuck shapes in the food actually got changed to a new shape, so that may very well be it. I'd say it was probably about 2 - 3 weeks after the food shape changed that he started vomiting. I use 9 Live indoor formula, and they offer many types of food in different formulas so i may try a different type and see if it solves the problem.

Thank you for you advice!
