In search of advice. We have  a pregnant foster cat, a Bengal (if that matters) that has been very temperamental since we picked her up 10 days ago. She had been running loose for at least 6 weeks, and a kind lady had been feeding her outside in her barn. She captured her and brought her into rescue.

She comes up to us for attention, rubs against me and then turns a scratches me with NO warning. If there is a warning, it's her casing out my face for 2 seconds before making her move. When I didn't let her walk across my lap, she did her attack from behind last time. Other than when she strikes, she is very loving and kind. She is due in about 1 to 2 weeks according to the Vet that had to sedate her to examine her. There is NO picking her up, but that is not uncommon for a Bengal.

She is so loving, rubbing up against me and then turns mean for just a second and then goes back to rubbing against me....does this sound like a hormone thing? Am I missing something....We have been careful not to stare at her eyes, even though she is gorgeous, and I don't walk up to her, I make her come to me for attention. Her tails and ears give no early warning signs. I am feeding her canned food from a spoon to help her relate good things with me. I keep her pets short and sweet to avoid over stimulating her. (she has grabbed at my leg a couple times when I was leaving the room, I thought perhaps she didn't want me to go?).  She enjoys playing with da bird, but seems to prefer rubbing up against me, but then she strikes after a while. Any advice of welcomed.  I am not new to cats, at all, this one just baffles me!

Thanks for any advice in dealing with a Pregnant cat with attitude!

It may be hormonal thing as you suggest.  But Im not sure, it can also be what got her dumped...

You seems to hande her all right.

what means this casing out my face?   Im not sure if you are too short, or my knowledge of english lets me down here.

ps.  One idea. Bengals are renown to be lively, demanding a lively friend to chase with and wrestle with,  to be happy...   May it be something alike that?   she wants to cuddle with you, but the net result is she gets too little exercise - and thus, tensions does builds up...     Speculating..

Yes, also speculating but I'd agree that she might simply need more simulation.

While it could be a hormonal thing it's impossible to know without knowing what she was like pre-pregnancy.

I also don't know what casing out my face means and I am a native speaker. I am always behind on pop culture/slang  though

casing my face just means she looks at your face a second before she strikes your face, claws out. :-) Thank you for your replies. I have been standing up while playing with her to avoid my face being clawed. Now, she goes for my leg, but at least I have jeans on and it doesn't hurt. She has started behaviors that make me think she is nesting!!!

Yes is DOES matter that she is a Bengal!  Some of them DO exhibit the wild cat disposition rather than the domestic cat disposition, and that may well be what got her dumped.  Like many Bengals, she may well do better as a barn cat where she can have her freedom but still be fed.  There was another thread on this site dealing with a cat just like yours which someone had had for four years and was still attacking her, and she was at her wits end.  Here is a link to a video from Wild Cat Rescue concerning potential problems with these cats developed by hybridizing with wild cats.
