Now that it's theoretically getting warmer here, the mud dauber wasps that live in the patio outside of my apartment are back. They somehow manage to get into my apartment, though we can't figure out how. Anyway, Oliver, who loves eating spiders, will chase these non-aggressive wasps for hours, catch them, bat them around, sniff them, but won't eat them.

What bugs do your cats eat and which ones do they avoid?

Monster loves to catch and eat crickets. There are cave crickets that live in my crawl space and they occasionally get in the house. He doesn't like those as much as the regular black crickets. They all like to chase spiders and flies.

Mine LOVE palmetto bugs (American cockroach)!  They'll eat almost any bug/spider.

The only bugs Mogli has really been exposed to are spiders and various types of flies, both of which he catches. Sometimes he eats them, while other times he spits them out.

Alaina will eat any bug/critter, but she has a special taste for mosquitoes and green aphids. She also eats spiders, but normally spits them out after she tries to chew them up.

I've never seen Autumn eat a bug but she is very good at catching fly's.  She just keeps chasing it until it flies low enough and then she lunges.  It may take a while but she gets her target eventually.  Once it's on the floor I pick it up with a napkin and throw it out.

When Camelot used to go outdoors, he loved to chase and eat butterflies. They were the only bugs he would that to. Was never much of a hunter, except with butterflies!

Morgana has eaten flies and spiders, and one grasshopper, but nothing else thus far. When it comes to flies, she would leap up and catch one mid-air.

Trying to keep tabs on her bug eating habits though

Oliver actually ate one this afternoon! A mud dauber, that is. He disabled it in the window, carried it over on the couch (thanks, Oliver), and then ate it inside the blanket cave I've created on the couch for him (just a blanket hung from the back over to the front, over the seat).

Good boy.

Sweetie does the same thing.

He usually avoids any bugs he isn't familiar with.

My cats both love grasshoppers and flies, those are the only ones they'll eat. They'll kill crickets, spiders and worms but won't eat them. Poor Burt messes with bees or wasps every year and will come into the house with a HUGE chin, but it usually is only once. He must forget by next year!
