hello!
I bred my new himalayan with my male himalayan , this would be both their first litters. they connected 6-7 times and its been three weeks since and my female has gone back into heat. would this mean one of them has an infirtility problem? My other female is pregnant with a litter from a different sire i brought in but this is the other two's first time breeding and they did connect ALOT but resulted in no pregnancy?  why would this be?

In pair 1.  it may be infertility, but wait and see before you do anything drastical.  3 weeks, you should see her nipples change color new into this typical hinderberry(??) red.

They females CAN get into heat while in pregnancy, as there does happens they do have two different litters simultanously several weeks apart.  Both litters healthy.   Breeders do seldom see this, because they do have control on their matings "connectioons".   But its not totally unique in moggies allowed to go out.

Infertility happens yes.  If it is more common with purebreds, or simply - breeders DO notice when there were no litter, I dont know.  Both perhaps can happen.    In such cases the normal course is to try again a little later, when you are sure there were no litter. Give her extra vitamine E and good nourishment to be on the safe side.  Also, make sure there is no stress.  If it doesnt helps, try with another male.   And your stud, let him try with another queen.   The infertility is sometimes just in this exact couple, need not to be total.

in pair 2.  How is it, ARE they pregnant or are they not?  You are unclear.

Or did you again talked about pair 1??

Sorry i will clear that up for you, My seal tortie point was bred to my blue lynx point they connected 6-7 times but 3 weeks later she went back into a heat cycle. My flame point was bred with a stud i brought in and she is 39 days pregnant now. They are all PURE breds so no "moggies' what are the chances one of them could be infirtile?

As said, too early to tell yet.   Has the seal tortie  teats turned into hinderbeer-red?   If pregnant, they turn such red about day 21...

Yes, I know very well your cats are no moggies.   I was just telling  the double pregnancies are almost unknown among pure bred breeders, as they do have control over the matings.   So if you ask your friends and mentors among other breeders, it may happen they dont know about it...

I having one leg in both camps, both the breeders AND the rescuers of moggies, and also common everyday owners of moggies,  I do know this phenomena of double pregnancies does exists...

I agree with StefanZ It's way to early to be thinking infertility.

Your female might actually already be pregnant, It can happen that they go back into heat while pregnant - uncommon but it can happen.

You say they connected 6-7 times. Do you mean they mated 6-7 times ? If so just because they were mating doesn't mean there was any penetration and they could have just been going through the motions. Putting two novices (first timers together) this can happen.

6-7 seven connections where he would pull out and she would cry and roll around . Her nipples have not turned pink like my other females do at 3 weeks :( is it still to early for me to be thinking infertile? they would make stunning babies. i really hope this doesnt mean something is wrong with one of them

As said, wait some till you are sure.    Try again later on...    In the mating agreements we wrote (my residents are Russian Blue studs, now of course ex-studs), there was always a clausule of free  re-mating, if there  wasnt no litter after tje first mating.    They had always several connections in each mating (the female was usually with us several days, as they usually were from several hours driving away. So they had time and occasions to do what they should.  And also be friends if not before, so always afterwards.).

So apparently it is not uncommon  with no results after such a meeting..

How about our friends moggies, why its enough with just once for them?  Easy.  If they dont get pregnant, nobody notices it.  Nor There is nobody taking statistics on them.   While we notice it on pure breeds...

So, my belief its quite common it doesnt take the first time, and  a remating is necessary.

If this remating doesnt helps,   try them both with another partner each.

In the breeding forum, there is one good tread about  fertility examinations.  There are some modern tricks which werent common ten years ago.  But still, what I wrote is surely the standard to do even today.

Yes it is possible she is pregnant. The pregnancy hormones can make them act a little funny sometimes. Especially when it's their first time and have never experienced this happening to them before :D

What about her nipples not pinking up? is there a chance she is just slower at pinking?

Yeah it is possible that she is slower at pinking up. Also some cats don't pink up as much as others. I have a female that doesn't pink up much at all - I never know if she is definitely pregnant until her stomach starts getting bigger. :lol3:

Hi Bazzel, you didn't say how old they were but the first breeding for a male...depending on how old he is, might have shot blanks the first time out.  It happens.  It's funny how we get so nervous waiting to find out, waiting for them to be born, etc.  GemsGen is right about strange things happening during the stages of pregnancy.  False labor/contractions, degree of pinking, milk coming in before or after delivery.  Welcome to the world of breeding. Let us know how it goes and good luck =^.^=
