Lately we've been having a cockroach out break in my apartment and yesterday I put some poison in the cabinet under the sink. Its kinda hidden and I never thought Foley would find it but he did! He's a very special cat and opens every cabinet in the apartment. So right now he brought me this long worm looking stripe and I actually thought it was a worm or something until I realized it was the posion! It doesn't seem like he ate it but he was playing with it. I'm worried. How do I know if he got poisoned? What's are the symptoms I really can't afford going to the vet right now if it isn't an emergency. How can I tell if he got affected?

If Foley has been poisoned, the sooner he gets to a vet the better. Personally I'd go ASAP and not wait for symptoms to show before seeking treatment.. I can understand money may be tight, but I'm sure no amount of money could replace him. It might also be possible for the vet to let you pay in installments. You should call them and explain the situation.

I hope everything is well and he hasn't ingested any, but it's better to be safe than sorry!

You need to look at the box and find out exactly what the name of the poison is. There are many different brands and many different active ingredients in cockroach poison. Call the vet with this information. Your vet will know the proper treatment.

Thanks so much for worrying about my baby bot. Turned out that the main ingredient in the poison is relatively safe for cats if consumed in small amounts and since he didn't consume anything just played with it I had to just watch him to see if he was acting not normal. He is fine, eating and drinking as always an being as curious as always. Thanks for the support. :rbheart:

That's good news! I'm glad he's ok :)
