Hi I'm new here but I have been having a look around and it is a fantastic site, thanks so much for all the fab advice:D

My beautiful siberian girl is 65 days pregnant now and is showing no signs of labour, when should I start to worry? This is my first litter and despite lots if research I'm still so nervous!

I thought I'd give a little bit more information

My girl is a purebreed siberian and the daddy is our boy cat who is also a pedigree siberian, they are from different breeders and bloodlines

We chose our cats because they are hypoallergenic and my husband is unfortunately allergic to regular cats

We decided to have one litter from them and we are planning on keeping most of the litter but if it is a large litter we have homes lined up, pure siberians are really hard to come by where we live and we know there are lots of people looking for them who can't have 'normal' cats

Daddy cat was neutered as soon as we confirmed this pregnancy

Girl cat is a classic brown tabby and boy cat is a silver tabby so I'm looking forward to seeing what we get!

It is quite common they go a couple of three days extra.  It seems cats manage extra days quite OK, better than humans.

In opposite, a too short pregnancy is directly dangerous for kittens. More than two three days early - and that is practically hopeless.

While with humans its no big deal even two months to early.

You do have info on bithing procedures?  Or shall I give you some links?

Good luck!

Thanks so much Stefan

Some line would be great please if it's not too much trouble? I have read up lots on the subject but you can never have too much information!

So a few days 'overdue' is ok then? When we planned this litter we made sure we had enough money to cover any vets costs and the health of my girl and the babies is so important, so I know I'm probably being a bit over cautious, I just really want to take the best care of her. I will try to relax a bit now :lol3:

Thanks Nichola and yes I'm terribly excited, I cannot wait to meet them :D

As far as I know the siberians have the normal cat gestation time, that was the info I got from the breeders anyway but yes very good point, the breed could mean she'll be pregnant a bit longer than usual

She seems fine if a bit fed up, bless her :lol3: her poor tummy is jumping about all over the place but she is showing so signs of going into labour at all

I was just concerned that being too far overdue might become a problem so I wanted to know at what point I should start to worry, but it sounds like a few days overdue is fine

Here are the links  I did stole shamelessly from my collegues.

As I can follow our forumites during the years.  many wait long, but very seldom too long.

So cats seems to manage some extra days quite well..  I think many of the warnings not to wait too long, is from comparison with humans.... Of course, if it goes into the 70, do contact your vet.  Especielly as you are sure when they mated.

Thanks again guys

Nichola I hope you aren't waiting too long

I think my lovely girl cat has expelled her mucus plug, there isn't loads of it but around her girly bits there is small amounts of a sticky substance

She seems a bit restless but otherwise ok

I hope it happens soon:D

A bubble of sack came out with a tiny bit of tail in it but she burst the sack, is that ok?
