I know this is -very- short notice, but It's obvious that Mr. Bert aka "Tubby" is going to leave us very soon,

In fact we have an appointment with our Vet to help him join his litter mate in Car Heaven. His nick name

is Tubby" since he was so 'rotund' (over 15 lbs).  Last night he weighed 7.6 lbs, since he hasn't and

won't eat for over a week. The question is, are there any suggestions?  Such as how do we make him

happy in his last hours?

What might he eat or be interested in during during his final 24 - 36 hours?

I am so sorry about Tubby ;(

What kinds of treats does he enjoy that's usually off limits like Warm milk, tuna, bacon?

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry This is happening to you and your best friend. Many of us here have faced what you are going through and we do sincerely sympathize. I lost my 14 year old Muffin in November. He had been fed a special diet most of his life for urinary issues. But when we knew the end was near, the diet went out the door. I have my boy anything he would eat. His diet included fresh shrimp, oysters, tuna fish, pieces of chicken, whatever he wanted. If he as close as you say, he might not want anything. Hold him, hug him, tell him over and over how much you love him. I am sorry. Hugs and prayers going your way.

Very sorry to read of Swabbie's condition. Cats that are near death will avoid eating and drinking, and may change in personality. I had a Tuxedo who developed oral cancer and towards the end he became very withdrawn. Blueyeyedgirl has provided some good advice in suggesting that the best thing you can do is to be there and love on him for the last time. I am so sorry.

Yes, I would try all of the above, and maybe like MsPrincess said, just try warming it up. Maybe some tuna water, or soft eggs, mashed up chicken with water, warm so he could smell it.

Also like blueeyedgirl and oneandahalfcats said, just by being with him, Tubby will know it.

Prayers are with you and Tubby. So Sorry.

If he is okay being held, if it were me I would like down on a couch with him in my arms and tell him over and over how much I love him and how wonderful he is. But he may be feeling more like withdrawing, in which case you would not want to smother him this much.

I am very sorry to read about this. It is so painful to say adieu to our kitties.
