I adopted Stella from a shelter about three weeks ago. Since then I discovered she had an upper respiratory infection and took her to the vet, where they put her on some antibiotics (Clavamox) that cleared up her sneezing very well. When I first adopted her, I noticed her left eye was running a bit and I chalked that up to the URI. I was hoping her antibiotic would nip that in the bud, but her eye is still oozing. It isn't green or yellow - clear - but it's excessive and I'm wondering if I should take her back to the vet? Or if there is anything over the counter I can buy for her?

And I did stop the Clavamox two days ago. She has half a bottle of it left, but her respiratory symptoms have stopped so I stopped giving it to her.

You should continue with the antibiotic the full length of the dose as prescribed by the doctor.  Did you do as many days as prescribed?

Your new kitty could have herpes. My cat has it and I give him l-lysine daily. I use Optixcare. It is like a treat. I buy it on amazon. It helps suppress herpes.I clean his eye with ocusoft also bought online. You pull the lower lid down and flush the eye. Then I use a drop of Refresh liquigel. It comes in a blue bottle. The tear duct could also be plugged and need to be opened. If it is herpes it's not fatal but does require care. I would see the vet again and have the eye checked out and see what they think. Ask if it could be herpes. Herpes is triggered by stress and it comes and goes. Does the eye look red when you pull down on the lower lid. What I have written is a maintenance program and it helps a lot .
