Hello everyone I am Ezra and I am the owner of Perseus Casper! I had a cat that i rescued from a basemant about 17 years ago when i was only 10 years old my bestfriend lived 17 years of a great life and passed away a few months ago :(
Just yesterday i went to Petsmart like I always do to play with the cats that they have for adoption. And this huge cat with broad shoulders caught my eye he is just gorgeous. So i went in to interact but he wasnt having it he hid from me and had a growl/roar thing going on lol all the other cats where jumping on me and begging for attention. The guy who worked there said that if i sing "casper the friendly ghost" to him he would calm down and sing back haha. Anyway he was still very shy and although any other person would take the friendly cat home i was not about to give up! The guy said that casper would never strike or bite anyone and I kinda proved him right for now.
Boy I am so glad I brought him home. In just one day little by little we became buddies he loves to be pet and does not like it when you stop! Hes still very scared at sudden movements and when i went to the store and returned he hid for a while untill i called his name and sang softly for almost an hour. I turned on the bath and he jumped in to play with the water! I love him!
His paper work says hes about 2 yrs old and that he is a Domestic shorthair/mix. And honestly i have never ever seen a face like this on a tabby and many people ask me where i got it and how much i paid he just looks amazing!
Can anyone help me out with this breed? Does he look common and i just havnt seen too many cats? Lol thanks!

And the picture that made me fall inlove at first (site)

to TCS! I'm sorry about your loss.

Perseus Casper looks like a very dignified kitty in those pics. He's probably shy because of the unfamiliar, noisy, and stressful environment of the pet store and will gradually warm up to you as he has already started doing. Don't be worried if he hides for the first couple days - it's a new environment, and some kitties adapt quicker than others. What a surprise it must have been, a kitty who loves bathtubs (that's unheard of in this household)

I am by far no expert on breeds, but it does look like he has quite the triangular head for a normal DSH. I'm sure that other members would pinpoint what breed/breed mix he is. @GemsGem  @StefanZ

I look forward to hearing more stories and seeing more pictures of your beautiful new cat. If you have any questions feel free to post a new thread in any of our other forums.

I agree with MissM, on everything here.  Also, I too think he must have much of Oriental shorthair in him.

Tabby in Orientals isnt the most common coloration on orientals, they are known for solid colors, but I have a vague memory it is allowed.

Esp the pic nr 1, and somewhat pic nr 4, shows it.  the other pics not so clear cut (although the pics are darkish in my compute)

Observe, IF he is a mix and not  Oriental of pet quality, his ancestor may have been a modern siamese.   A siamese mixed out loses his point, and what is left?   the look alike of a Oriental.

As the two breeds are very near each other.  Orientals being essential siameses without point.
