Desperately seeking advice or answers? I have a 15 year old male neutered cat. This poor animal has a heart murmur. Far as I know he's had it for 10 years. Now he has hyperthyroidism And possible unknown GI cancer ibs or renal. Vet wont do a biopsy because of his age and heart. His thyroid is not managed yet. Now he has low potassium and Is on a gel for 7 days. Plus heart medication. Twice now Not sure if he's having a stroke or seizure I think more of a stroke. Does anybody Have a cat that has had strokes? And what is their actions during that stroke? And about what to feed my cat in The healthiest way income is limited...

Is the heart medication new? Did the stroke/seizure just start? If your cat has had a heart murmur for 10 years, it's probably a low grade one. Has something changed?

As for the hyperthyroidism, what is being used to treat it? Methimazole? Hopefully not Hill's y/d. Is the radioactive iodine treatment an option for you? Is the low potassium a side effect?

What are you feeding now? In general, the healthiest food to feed an obligate carnivore is meat (either raw or cooked with the proper amount of calcium and either organs or other supplements). Dry food is not recommended due to its lack of adequate moisture and high carbohydrate content. Homemade is a much cheaper option than quality canned or commercial raw.

No he has been on the medication for at least 10 12 years now enalapril 2.5mg A half in the morning and a quarter 12 hours later. I know sometimes he would get the generic but now he is on the Better one. Yes he is on the methimazole gel that you put in ears Twice a day. Yes I think the low potassium have something to do with the hyperthyroidism. She didn't give me a whole lot of answers. Radioactive I don't think that's an option. The seizures just started this last Thursday. Now I think it's more of a seizure But not sure. He is eating Purina One hairball. He is a very finicky cat and I tried holistic food he was not impressed frm petco. Event told me to just keep him on that because changing foods could really upset him more. I figured well he is vomiting once a day I am not comfortable with this food Because I know its not good for him.
