My cat has been suffering scabs, itching and hair loss since before we took him in. We finally found something that is helping! The vet wanted us to try Atopica after everything else failed. He got so bad there for a while I was scared we were going to lose him soon. He just stopped moving around as much and seemed depressed, he didn't want cuddle and he didn't sleep up by my head like normal. He was so miserable it was so hard to watch.
After being on the Atopica for a week he improved dramatically! His fur is growing back and he scratches very little, plus he sleeps up by me again and plays as much as he used to. I'm so glad it's helping him, it's so expensive but we will use it as long as we need to. Since lowering his dose he has gotten a bit scabby but the vet told us we'd have to find the right dose for him once we start lowering it so now I'm raising back up a bit.
If for whatever reason this stops working down the road, we have been referred to a vet that specializes in dermatology. For now though I have my Ghost back to normal and he is feeling better which is all I have ever wanted for him.
