Hello!  A stray cat adopted me in November 2013 for food and shelter. Now, she is pregnant. I found out she was pregnant on the week of Valentine's Day. I noticed her nipples were swollen and her belly was round. I honestly finished getting out of her old litter (neighbor's abandoned the cats). I found out last week that a local animal league will spay her for free but I plan to have that happen after birth. So! Whats the problem? The cat, known as Mama, is starting to want to stay inside my house instead of the porch (closed porch) and purrs a lot more than usual. She hasn't milked yet but I think she is starting to nest. I felt a little movement for the first time last week, too. The day I discovered the movement in her womb was February 26th. People say kittens start to move around 7 weeks but it could have been happening prior to the discovery. These movements are weak and hardly noticeable. Her belly has minor twitches and feels like blood pulses when the kittens move. I don't know how far along she is now. As of now, I'm judging her to be 8 weeks. When do kittens start to really kick hard enough to be seen by the naked eye? It is obvious she is pregnant since her belly is visible when she walks. I will post a video of the belly below. Anyone else can assume far she is?

This is a picture of her nipple on the 20th of February or before that. (Forgot)

This is her on my lap wanting to have a picture taken (sleepy too).

This is blurry but this is her belly from the side. (Other cat was one of her older kittens, about 5 months now)

This is her yesterday getting comfy and purring.

Hello, fellow CateSite users! My new cat (previously a stray, abandoned by its owner) is pregnant. I noticed she was pregnant in the week of Valentine's Day. I took picture of her swollen nipples (pink and big). Her belly is visible. As of February 26, I felt a kitten move. The movement was weak but felt like a blood pulse. I can feel what seems to be the arm or leg push the walls of the womb and move along it and retreat back in. I was excited. I'm not sure how long this has been going for (the kicking). The kicking isn't visible by looking at it. However, it does twitch if you really stare at a certain spot after a while. It has been a long time since the week of Valentine's Day. About 3 weeks, if I'm not mistaken. Can someone help me understand why the movements are weak and not as prominent as those other cats that are very visible. I expect her to give birth between March 5th - March 16th. I think she got pregnant between January 1st - January 10th, or even before. Help?

If this is a young mother, she may be having a small litter in which case the kittens have more room to move.  Since they have room, the maybe staying more towards the inside and so you wont see much movement on the outside.  Its also possible that she is not as far along as you may think and the kittens are not as fully developed so there will be more room.  When the kittens run out of room, then you will start seeing more movement on the outside.

She had a litter before that I cared for which she gave birth to last year between August - October. (Neighbors kicked them out too). Her last litter were of only 4 kitten. One of the kittens were small but I am still feeding her (last kitten with me). My neighbors says the mom cat is over 1 years of age. They said that the last litter was actually her 3rd litter. This will be her 4th.

OH! Also, she was seen with a Tom cat on the 10th of January and he REALLY wanted to mate with her. He never let her escape and would hiss at me when I tried to get her. I wasn't able to get her so I had to leave her there. They say that the belly is visible between 4-5 weeks and kittens move around the 7th week. I has been two week or so since the belly was visible. And 6 days passed since then. So She should be between 7-8 weeks.

Did a quick count and she is due closer to March 16th.  If it was a short interrupted mating then there could be fewer kittens.  My cat had seven 4 weeks ago and she looked larger then the pics of your cat.  The kittens are going to grow in the next two weeks so you should get more movement.

I think unless you're sure when they've mated it's almost impossible to know when there will be the patter of tiny paws, a mo th ago I was going away overnight and worried Daisy might give birth while I was gone but here we are still waiting lol

At 10:32 AM ET, I saw kittens move again. This time the kittens moved for real. Instead of a twitch, it was a visible movement along the belly, up and down, like 3 times. So it wasn't easy to miss. This is her now on March 8th, 2014 and my expected (based on the Tom and her spotted together) date is March 16th, 2014 :

!!HELP!!

Questions:

1)        Mama is about 58 days now. When will I start noticing signs of her getting closer to her due date? I know that I will see milk, temperature drop, nesting, and panting. Anything else I should notice? Does the belly begin to look different?

2)        I hear there is another way to check how many kittens she will have but its not 100% accurate. I heard that counting the swollen nipples can closely tell me how many kittens she will have. I am sure all her nipples are swollen for milk production soon. Is there a certain size of swelling that can be counted for? I keep looking at her nipples. One seems long, swollen, and pink, another seems fat and her skin color, etc.

Also, she is looking exhausted more often. I fear she might be sick or something but when I check her ears, their not hot. Cats do sleep about 80% of the day but her eyes just tell me something and I'm not too sure what it is. She will rub up against me at times (she usually doesn't), sits right in front of me, nose to nose kiss me, and then looks into my eyes. Its a deep stare. I keep worrying that she is ready to give birth. Its weird...

My only tips would be to make sure she has a dark warm place that she feels safe in and try to set that up now if you haven't already but my Tiki tried having her babies under my bed so there is no guarantee. It is handy to keep clean old linens close by, dental floss, and then just watch her if you can to be sure no problems come up. She should do the work. Good luck!

My cat is in my closed porch. It gets cold at night but I'm sure I'll bring her in once the labor signs appears. She would always scratch at my door trying to get in. I feel like she already marked the inside as her nesting place. I recently made her box and she seems to like it very well. She is currently sleeping in it. Can I get a hot bottle of water and wrap it in a towel to put near the kittens while she is giving birth?

It would be best if you could bring her in now so she becomes comfortable. Do you have a room you can put her in where she will be by herself?

My cat is now 63 days pregnant. She isn't showing signs. However she has become more affectionate. She purrs a lot more when I pet her than ever before. I have been feeling her belly and it seemed like the kittens moved to the bottom and I can feel the kitten shape of a kitten at the bottom (or so I think) and seems tight. The top seems softer. Her nipples aren't milking yet but I will check again. Can she be close? She refuses to go outside now and wants to stay in the porch. She just wants to be around humans, relax, and purr.
