l know we've had posts like this before, but l'm STILL car shopping and having a hard time. The more l research, the less cars become available

l'm scared to unload a pile of money on something that's going to let me down, or bleed me dry. l currently drive a 2002 Honda Accord EX which has served me very well. l have no problem driving older cars, and the main thing l'm looking for in a new car is longevity. l want to own this car, as trouble-free as possible for as long as possible. l won't buy new, l'm looking for 2008/9 or younger.

l like a V6 as opposed to the 4 cylinder, again because of longevity. ln my mind the 6s/8s last longer??? Maybe that's not true, but it's what l've always thought.

And it must be automatic.

l've had so many recommendations from friends my head is spinning.

l'm leaning towards 2 cars right now that are at the stretched end of my budget, if anyone has input, thoughts, or experience with either, l would really value it.

2009 Nissan Maxima SV roughly 93000m or 150,000km. Beautiful car. Never had a Nissan, don't know anything about them.

2008 Honda Ridgeline LX, 104,000m or 168,000km. A small "urban" truck!! l love the style, and these things apparently last forever (there's one advertised with 730,000km on it). lt's 4-wheel drive, love that in our snowy/icy climate.

Both cars have huge tires, so costly to replace. Not sure about insurance, l haven't got that far yet. Both have 3.5L V6. According to anything l've read, the truck gets better gas mileage than the car!! l'm leaning towards the Ridgeline. Does anyone have any horror stories?

FWIW, according to Consumer Reports:

2009 Nissan Maxima SV - Overall score is better than average, with the biggest problems seeming to be with electrical issues and with power equipment. Suspension is not that great. Everything else scored fairly well. It's in their $15,000 - $20,000 range. Is a Recommended Buy

2008 Honda Ridgeline LX - Overall score is better than average, with the biggest problems seeming to be with the climate system. Engine is smooth, quiet and responsive. Everything else scored better than average. It's in their $15,000 - $20,000 range. Is a Recommended Buy

Neither vehicle is on their "Avoid" list. (They do recommend that one avoids the 2006 Maxima.)

I know somebody with a Ridgeline and he just loves his truck.

Thank you! lt's great to hear someone that has a Ridgeline loves it. l've yet to meet anyone who's owned one.

l can get both for less than their supposed value, so l think l'll check the truck out first, and see how it is. The closest l've ever come to owning a truck was an 89 GMC Jimmy back in the day. lt may not be what l'm expecting.
