Hi,

Yesterday I my cat Scooter had his teeth cleaned. He's 9, and there was a fair amount of tartar. In addition, they had to do one extraction.

He was fine all day today, but just now he came downstairs and was drooling. There's no blood, just some strings of drool.

Should I be concerned, or is this just normal?

I'm definitely calling the vet tomorrow morning regardless.

This is normal, as the pain meds/anesthesia has completely worn off now. If he had alot of tartar then the vet was digging below the gumline, which causes irritated gums, just as it would us.
48 hours he will be good as new :)

This can happen sometimes as an after affect of the anesthesia or if the kitty is nauseated due to the anesthesia.  I would check with your vet.

This is true as well. Usually if the cat is going to get some nausea, it's mostly seen before it has even had time enough to wear off. All the kitties I get back from weekly s/n runs, any who are going to be nauseous will show it very soon after they are back, while still drowsy-ish.

I'd bet the drool is due to sore gums.

Thank you both for your responses. I feel a little better. I'm just worried about the poor little guy.
