Hello! My name is Megan and I recently rescued a cat!
Astro (formerly Oreo) was originally my neighbor's cat. He's a little less than a year old and cute as a button! Everyone in my neighborhood loves this cat. Everyone, that is, except his owners. Winter came and I kept seeing him outside when it was below freezing, snowing, raining, you name it. One morning, he followed me up to my apartment for the umpteenth time begging to be let in. I picked him up and he was shivering uncontrollably. I decided it was time to find out what on earth was going on. I went downstairs to my neighbor's apartment and knocked on her door. When I asked her about the shivering ball of fur in my arms she said, "Oh, we don't want him. We want him gone."
My heart broke for the sweet little tuxedo cat. I asked my neighbor to surrender him to me which she agreed to without hesitation. I took him in with the intention of keeping him safe until I could find a suitable home for him. A couple of days later, I realized that suitable home is my own. I changed his name to Astro for the white shooting star on his face and that was that!
On top of being abandoned in the wintertime, Astro had ear mites, fleas, worms, and wasn't neutered. With the help of my amazing friends and peers, all of these things have been remedied and he's recovering comfortably in my now cat-proof bathroom. I'm slowly introducing him to my resident cat, Celeste, who is less than happy about her new roommate, but I'm hoping that love and patience will eventually bring her around.
I like cats quite a lot, but I never considered getting one of my own. Celeste came with my fiance and I love her very much! But there's something different about Astro. Every now and then and animal comes into your life that is just MEANT for you. Astro decided to adopt me and I couldn't say no to his sweet face.
