I noticed the daffodils where I live have buds on them now.  They are late this year which is understandable.  Spring is coming it's just taking it's sweet time getting here.

Today, I noticed we have bunches of crocus coming up ... because one of the monster dogs was peeing on them. I shooed him away and saw that they are full of buds. After further inspection of our new yard, I saw some other bulbs starting to come up. It will be fun to discover what has been planted here. Not so fun keeping the dogs from trampling everything. We have some rolls of chicken wire, so I think I am going to have to cage an area for my vegetable garden. Better to be safe than sorry!

Talking of permafrost, we had that in England in 1965 and nearly lost my dad when he went into a skid. Everybody was very kind to him when he finally came to a stop inches away from plate glass windows. Even the man whose car dad crashed into without knowing. Our car was a write-off. At least dad came out of it with no scratches.

They'd have to have stalks 8 feet long to be up here.
Yuck yuck yuck!  Our winter has basically been snow, melt to brown grass, snow, melt to brown grass...repeat too many times.  We generally don't get snow as often as we have.  We might get dumped on every few years; but winter used to be much more mild here.  At least compared to where I am originally from in Upstate New York with all the lake effect snow up there.  Spring usually comes by March.  I think some of the school districts around here are excusing some of the missed time.  Some are adding time to the school day.  I think 20 minutes; maybe more for some.

Can I hope this means we'll have a cooler than average summer?  Not so many days in the 90s?

The wind is scary out there right now. I keep hearing bangs. I'm waiting for a tree to fall on the house or the power to go out. :(

Oh no. I hope electricity stays on and trees stay in the ground. The wind is bad here too, but it is just cold. No precipitation for us today.

We've got mostly clear skies now.  I think we got close to 6" yesterday afternoon into the wee hours.  (That's a lot considering they predicted 1-3"!)  The ground is so warm it didn't stick too well to the patio.  I was just watching 3 woodpeckers peck around an area where the grass is exposed.  I guess the ground is warm enough that it's melting faster in some spots.  It looks slushy through most of the yard.  Our road looks good too.  DH said they were getting bad last night when he got home from work.  I didn't even hear a plow till later in the evening and that's unusual since we live close to a few schools.

It's windy here too.  24 gusting to 37 I saw.  But the sun is shining and in 2 days we are supposed to hit 60 again so I will just think about that and get back to doing laundry!

Colorado Low heading out way. Snow and strong winds!  :(
Ugh, poor you. Hopefully you'll get some warmth and greenery soon.

We're having another beautiful day here. l was outside in only a polar fleece sweater!! l decided l would be brave and attempt to clean the throttle body on my new truck. lt went well, so l'm going to do the same on my old Accord to see if l can make it saleable.

The snow missed Winnipeg!  But some of the surrounding towns to the South East of us got hammered! Highways were closed in parts. We did get the biting cold wind though.  The gusts died down today, but it's still quite nippy out.  Sunday is supposed to be 9 Celsius though!  I'm not holding my breath though!  LOL I'll believe it when I actually see it happen.

Is this really SPRING !!!!! :nothappy: I am SO tired of wearing a coat, gloves and a hat and so are my dogs. They come with us in the car most places and have a wardrobe too. :lol3: Today it was raining, cold, windy and very foggy. I think tomorrow the sun is suppose to come out. Shocking, I know.

I put my winter coat away last weekend and I hope it stays away for a long time. I've been wearing heavy sweatshirts to walk and have been doing well that way, even with the wind. I'm going to bring my gloves, muffs, and YakTrax home on Monday as I don't think I'm going to need them anymore.

But yesterday, we had the terrible winds and we had rain, so no walking over lunch anyway. Today (Saturday) is to be much like yesterday with some cleaning late afternoon. And Sunday is supposed to be gorgeous. We shall see!
