Hi folks, is there a weigh scale you'd recommend to weigh your cat?

I think those scales you see in the grocery, bulk food stores would be cool - except for the room required for them :)

I just use my own bathroom scales. I weigh myself then I weigh myself holding the cat then deduct

I can never get any of my cats to stay on any type of scales by themselves for longer enough to weigh them properly.

Thanks, likely a silly question anyway.  To be honest - I haven't stepped on a weigh scale in years.  I just bought a digital backlit one from Amazon. Good to 0.2 lbs.

Nah, not a silly question at all. I have heard of people weighing cats on scales by themselves. But would love to know how they get them to stay still long enough to get a reading. At the vets they will stay still still to be weighed but a home well, I might as well forget it - no chance LOL :lol3:

I found mine on ebay, it was cheap too.
It's a postal scale with a decent sized platform. About $20.00 plus maybe 7-8 for shipping. It's great.

Plus if you need even more room for kitty you can put a baking sheet on the platform and zero it out.
Kitty only needs to stay semi-still for a couple seconds because it will freeze that weight and show you.

l use the same kitchen scale l use to make their raw food. l put a tray or a large stainless bowl on top, then push it down to tare at - 5 lbs. Then l put the cat in the bowl or tray, weigh and add 5lbs.

I had my scale in front of the mirror and Foley loves to look at himself in the mirror so he weighs himself several times a day to the point where the battery of my digital scale has gone dead. last time I saw him in the scale he was 13.5 pounds :lol3: my baby boy is enormous

I use the Salter baby scale. You can get it on Amazon for less than $50. It's very accurate and so much easier than having to stand on a human scale with the cat in your arms.

I use a Redman scale (sorry, it's an old model and I can't find a picture).
But I have the same issue as other posters have said: good luck getting your cat to stand still on the scale for longer than one second!
One idea I did have is to position the back of the scale against a wall, and next to one or two pieces of furniture, essentially an open box. You might have a better chance getting your cat to explore/sniff that new thing against the wall.
And I tried positioning a treat on the scale, even trying to use it as a lure to get Ritz to walk on the scale, but Ritz got suspicious and wouldn't get onto the scale.

I just pick my cat up and place him/her on the scale, then feed them a treat with my hand while they're standing on the scale. Works every time!

Thanks molldee. That's a good idea-except Ritz also hates being picked up. Gets very very nervous and wiggles to get free. I have to plan very carefully in order to get her into a cat carrier.
She was a rescue, dumped in the dead of a bad, snowy winter, so she has issues being picked up and with brooms....
