My little monster swallowed a knitting string about 2 inches long last night.  do i need to worry about this?  will he just poop it out?  do i need to look for it to make sure it comes out in his poop?

he has done this once before.  swallowed a very long string that he chewed off his toys, but it was much wider and longer.  he was having diarrhea before and while he did it.  saw it come out in his poop.  the vet was concerned about it irritating his stomach and gave him meds to coat his insides. his poop eventually got better after that medicine and a round of dewormers (so not sure what exactly was causing his diarrhea in the past).  i'm so scared of last night's incident causing diarrhea again!

waiting for a call back from the vet but wanted to see if anyone had experience with this.  thanks!

I haven't had any experience with this type of thing but I think that calling the vet was a good idea. Please keep us updated. It sounds like as long as kitty is watched carefully everything will turn out good like last time. Kittens/cats are as bad as babies when it comes to eating everything!

Yes, you do need to worry and keep an eye on his poop. It may be passed safely, OR it may cause an intestinal obstruction. Glad you called the vet. Please get an emergency number just in case. Many vibes.
