4 days ago I've found a tiny beat up pregnant cat. I began feeding her and she's been on my porch since. She looks very pregnant. She has food, water, a box and a blanket. She's very sweet and her wounds have scabbed over. Now in 2 days I'm moving 8 hours away by car. I really want to take her with me and bring her inside. Advice? P.s. Leaving her isn't really an option. Where I am now they are known for shooting stray cats.

If she's friendly with you, find a way to get or make some sort of safe carrier and take her along. I've seen some posts on here about using two laundry baskets, one overturned onto the other, as a makeshift carrier. In a pinch, it would work.

Other options would be to find a rescue or no kill shelter, but they may not have space for her.

She very friendly and I plan on taking her with me but is it safe for her to travel being so pregnant? I don't know how far along she is but she looks like she could pop anytime now.

Keep it as low stress as possible and I think she'd be alright.
It's like I said to one of my boys today..if cats couldn't handle any stress or missing a jump or tumbling off of something now and then, chances are we wouldn't have much in the way of cats anymore. They're tougher than they look.

If you look through the Ferals and Rescue board, you'll probably find a good bit of information on how to help her transition more smoothly.

I'm just really hoping she doesn't have the kittens somewhere before we leave.

From what you've said I'd say its safer for her to brave the journey than it would be to leave her, are you able to get close enough to check her nipples for milk? That usually comes in 24-48 hours before labour so could be an indicator, good luck with her she looks sweet

What a doll! She's beautiful.

Being close to birth..there again, take a look through here and you'll find a lot of good information.
Here's a few to start with that were recommended to me. I've just copied and pasted from a different post. :-)

Thank you! I've had cats give birth with me there before, it's just that I know nothing about her. She will have an appointment made with a vet as soon as we get set up after the move.

She's wandered off. She usually leaves for a couple hours (hunting?) but when she comes back I will try to check her nipples. She doesn't mind being picked up so I think I'll be able to do it.

If you're sure you want to take her with you it's probably a good idea to keep her indoors once she comes back, is that possible?

My current roommate had three dogs and two cats so I didn't want to stress her out. Plus with not knowing her health status I didn't want to get the other cats sick. I'm pretty sure she's OK though. Clear eyes, no runny nose or drooling, no cough or sneezing that I've heard.

You had got good advices so far by everyone participating.  Just to agree!

You got a tip to use laundry baskets for emergency carriers.  do you possibly have a dog crate?  This would be optimal for the transport  (and also keeping her in now, making her sure and giving some isolation from the other animals - you are correct its wise not to let them meet before she got an official clean health billI).

When you pick her, do you feel the kittens move?

On the pics she doesnt look that high preg.   She MAY have a small litter, she may even be in the last days of pregnancy when the kittens wanders down into birthing postions, and the mom to be looks not so high stuffed as before...

But my guess is, she is not bursting as yet...    If you, your transport should be even easier then you hoped for.

Tx a lot for helping this little sis of ours, and adopting her.

Good luck!

The pics don't show how big she truly is. I found an old cat carrier I can use for the move but not big enough for her to stay in until then. When she comes back I'll just put her in my room and not allow the other animals in there. Any tips on getting her to use the litter box if she doesn't?

And any advice on if she has the babies before? Like outside. Do I look for them and move them? Or do I just leave her here when I go?
