Hello everyone. :)

I haven't been an active member since March 2011 when I lost my baby Mackerel to FIP. I don't know if anyone remembers Mackerel- she was a beautiful 2 year old long-hair Mackerel striped tabby, the most affectionate, lovely, sweet little girl. I was devastated when she was diagnosed and everyone here was so lovely... it's really great to be back, and with somewhat better thoughts/news than the last time I logged in...!

I live next to a lake, and I went for a walk a bit over a month ago and saw a black plastic bag in the water right next to the shore. I went and grabbed the bag, thinking to put it in the bin... and it moved... I looked inside, and there was a tiny kitten inside! He was very very thirsty (it was a really hot day here in Australia, probably about 43*C!) but seemed ok. I think he was about 7 or 8 weeks old.

I took him to the vet to have him looked over, and when the vet gave him the all-clear apart from a tiny case of kitten flu, I decided to keep him!

He came into my life at a really good time... after Mackerel died I didn't feel up to adopting another furbaby, and then I started dating someone allergic to cats... well, that 2 year relationship broke up a few weeks before, and he's been such a lovely companion, and a really great help keeping my mind from my ex and my ex's son that it feels like I was almost destined to find him.

He's called Adso. (Any Diana Gabaldon fans here??)

This is Adso after he'd had something to drink and some time to calm down, on the way to the vet. (Note - not while we were driving! He demanded to be let out of his carrier and we gave into his demands. XD

This is him a week and a bit ago - look how much he'd grown already! He was driving me mad, lounging over my keyboard and playing with my hands until I remembered a tip I learned here, actually, about "cat catchers"... haha. Now I have a basket for him on my desk and he doesn't take up space on my keyboard. XD (He has another basket that's slightly bigger that I'll swap this out for in a little while - he used to be able to fit in this one so snugly!)

This is him from this afternoon - such a BOY.  Haha.

And this is us from earlier this evening! He is such a cuddly little boy- I made a "kitten carrier" so that he could snooze close to me while I studied.

So, that's us. Hello. :-) Nice to see you all again!

Sophie & Adso

This is so sweet.  I'm sorry about your losses the past couple of years.  Adso certainly did come into your life at the right time, didn't he.  And how incredibly serendipitous was your walk along the lake.  A few hours later it might have been too late.  It sounds like you two saved each other.

Welcome back!!

Thanks! It's just a cardigan where I tied the waist around my neck and the sleeves together... the shape of the cardy makes a really neat little pouch for him!

So Adso came into your life at a really good time, huh?  I'd say it's the other way around.  Sophie, dear, you literally saved his life.  How incredibly wonderful is that?

I do remember your Mackerel and how devastated you were by her illness.  You have my very deepest condolences.  I know she will always have a special place in your heart.

I'm glad you decided to come back to TCS and share your new little love with everyone.  He certainly is a looker
----such a handsome fellow.  Please give him a gentle head skritch for me, and welcome back, hon.

Welcome back Sophie!  Of course I remember you and Mackerel.  I've often thought about you and wondered if you were going to return to the site.

Good thing you didn't throw away the bag!  It's very fortunate that you were taking a walk at that time. Adso is a very handsome cat and seems to be very happy with you. He reminds me very much of two black kittens that I used to be friends with/care for.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of you again!

Thanks everyone. <3 It might sound a little silly but I like to think that Mackerel told him "Look out for Sophie. She's ready for you now and her life will be full of love for you." or something like that.
Well---maybe he did.
