Opinions/Thoughts on Merricks Cat Canned?

I have been using Merricks cat canned food and am somewhat curious about the guar gum or carrageenan, or should I say, worried about it. I've been reading a lot lately about these two and there have been a LOT of negatives.
I have no particular sources but I've read that carrageenan is or can be a carcinogen. And that guar gum can slow down digestion. Other articles and people say they are just fillers to keep the texture and form of the canned food.
I feel the need to plan and just slowly start the raw path. A lot of cans just contain waaay too many fillers and are VERY expensive for i don't know what reason.

Sooo, what are your opinions on Merricks Cat Canned Food? Mine are doing fine on it, but overtime in not sure if it'll be any good anymore.

I liked Merrick before they changed their formula.  Now I'm not liking it anymore, and neither do my cats. For one thing, they dropped the amount of protein.  Their ingredient list just got worse, IMHO. 

I DO feed raw though, most of the time, so am probably biased
