My cat is 4 years old. In general she ia a happy cheerful cat. 3 days ago she started to hv some diarrhea and by yesterday morning it was totally diarrhea plus vomiting so I took to the vet and he said infection in her digestive systen and she had a fever.
I gave her the antibiotic he prescribed. My worry is that she is sleeping all day and not eating at all. She drank some water yesterday. Whenever I offer her food like one piece of her dryfood or chicken she make a small voice like she is about to vomit. I'm so worried

Sorry to hear that your kitty is sick. Did the vet give her any IV or subcutaneous fluids?

How long has it been since she's eaten? Cats MUST eat. Otherwise they are at risk of developing fatty liver disease. Did your vet mention syringe feeding at all?

What is the antibiotic and when did you start giving this?
I have the same question. The antibiotic's side-effects may worsen the diarrhea.

As @vball91  said, your cat has to eat. Assisted feeding (syringe feeding) may become a must if she's not willing to eat on her own in the next couple hours (depending on how long she hasn't eaten).  Hepatic lipidosis can very quickly begin to develop if she doesn't start eating. There are many helpful articles/videos about how to syringe feed if you take that path.

The infection was probably caused by the fever and then the diarrhea, and the fever is another symptom of the diarrhea/infection. Has your vet checked for any sign of worms? The primary step would be to first diagnose the cause of the diarrhea through an ultrasound/blood count/or a fecal examination.

Lots of vibes for your kitty.

Thanks everyone for replying. Yesterday I started the antibiotic. It's fluid and it's name is Augmantin. The good thing that today at 7 am she ate some of her dry food and the other good thing that she went to watch the birds but after that she went to sleep again.
She pooed diarrhea twice. I don't know when is that supposed to stop..
Should I wait or should I take her back to the vet.
P.S: yes the vet checked for worms and she is clean.

Augmentin is also known as Clavamox, its a common anti-biotic.  It's kept refrigerated and given 2x per day.  It sounds like she is getting better and if she is eating and drinking water then I think you can wait a few days while watching for gradual improvement.  Call your vet if you think she isn't getting better or ask your vet when should you expect to see improvement in the stool?

That's certainly great news that she ate something!

Clavamox is very good, and a broad spectrum antibiotic.
It takes approx 5 doses (2 1/2 days) to get into her system enough that she shows she is feeling better.

I must warn you though. Clavamox only stays in the system for 12 hours and then is gone, so it is extremely important to dose her about the same time, twice a day, not missing any doses or changing the time by more than maybe an hour.
Otherwise it allows whatever bacteria to begin to grow back, which we don't want.

Vibes for her fast recovery! :vibes:

Also meant to say, it will be helpful to her if you were able to feed her canned food at dinner time daily :) Dry food alone takes alot of a cat's water away from their bodies and cats need alot of water for proper balance and hydration :)

My cat is not used to canned food. Isn't it wrong to change her eating habbits now? I mean it might make the diarrhea worsen?
