Hi! I stumbled across this site and joined immediately. This is fantastic! It's so nice to be 'around' like minded people. I quit my job several years ago to home school my son and in my free time, I "collect" ferals. I have a colony that I am extremely protective of. I have trapped and adopted 6 of them over the last 3 years and TNR-ed several more. Unfortunately, in November a lady that lives across the street from the lot where my babies live, came out of her house brandishing a gun threatening to shoot me. She didn't want me trapping "her" cats (?) and accused me of poisoning them.(?) She was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and is insisting on taking the case to trial. If there are any cat lovers in the Fall River area I could sure use support when we have to go to court!!  Needless to say, I still go there every day to feed, water, talk to, and TNR when I have the money.        So happy to be here.

It sounds like you should feel very welcome and at home here, and I am pleased to meet you.  Welcome.
   I am not one of the many carers of feral and stray cats here but have great respect and admiration for all of you, and thank anyone who takes care of our feline friends who are not lucky enough to have a warm and loving home with regular access to food and health care.  I am lucky to live in the UK where there has been less of an issue for cats, though sadly there are signs that this may be changing in some areas of the country.

I look forward to hearing more about you and the cat care that you provide, and about the cats you can introduce us to.  I hope you will receive support and advice here as and when you need it and enjoy the lighter social areas of TCS too.

Wow!  That's a crazy situation.  Welcome to TCS, you'll find lots of folks to talk to about ferals and tons of other things.

Wow, Mindy, that is serious stuff! I am so sorry that you are going through this. It's scarey enough that you were threatened with a gun, but now you've got this legal issue to contend with, too? This is just awful. Lots of prayers for your safety and success.
Just remember that you're an angel for looking after those kitties.

Welcome to the site! I hope that means that crazy lady with the gun is feeding and taking care of the cats too, it doesn't hurt to have help. You may want to stick a pamphlet in her mailbox explaining about TNR, maybe she'll come around if she knows what you are doing, or explain it in court. You shouldn't have any trouble in court, NOBODY should brandish a gun at someone else, especially someone outside and off her property. Try to see if there are Feral Cat supporters in your area or look up help on the Friends of ferals site. Keep us posted on how it turns out, good luck!

Well welcome home then. :wavey::lol3:

I don't live that far from you. Does this lady really think she is going to get anywhere by going to court? :rolleyes: That's ridiculous.

Try contacting Animal Advocates for help with your ferals.

My niece has had some luck with them helping with stray cats in her neighborhood. She did adopt two of them herself though. :lol3:
