I have never been one to get too into sports. My ex-husband is a big football fan. I tried getting into that, but it just didn't happen. Well, this past week, UNC played our biggest rival, Duke. Many say it's the grandest rivalry in college sports. So I entered the student lottery to get a ticket and I won! This was the first sporting event I've attended at UNC. And it was AWESOME!

I'm officially a college basketball fan now! I watched a couple of games this weekend and I'm totally into it.

So today's question: Are you a sports fan? If so, what sport(s) and how did you get into it/them?

Not a sports fan, and Georgia-Florida is the big football game here.  I hate that weekend.

I am a huge baseball fan since I was in my twenties. I have been a St. Louis Cardinal fan since I became a baseball fan.  I love the team and visited St. Louis twice just to see my team play at home, it was one of the best experiences of my life.  Living in Jersey you would think I was a Yankee or Mets fan but I don't like either team.

Not into football much but I will watch a championship game and Super Bowl on and off.  Never sit through a whole game tho.

I like watching sports if I have some kind of interest, like I know someone who is competing or on a team. Otherwise I don't care.

I think I started off at a disadvantage; when I was a kid my school never explained rules for the games, so in P.E. we would just get divided into teams and start playing. My parents never explained anything to their kids, so I had no idea what I was supposed to do but it seemed everyone else did! I was a kid and too embarrassed to ask what are the rules for every game (and had no internet to look them up, either) so I don't have very good feelings for baseball, basketball, etc.

We also lost every high school football game when I was in band. I had to sit through them in a wool band uniform in the Texas heat every Friday night of football season.

I've always loved swimming, though, and swam usually twice a day during my childhood.

Pro football - huge fan!  And our Seahawks killed in the Super Bowl!  Go 12th Man!  Russell Wilson ROCKS!!

I actually was introduced to flag football in PE class in high school, longer ago than I want to admit.  I thought it was lame, but one New Years day I ended up stuck inside because of bad weather and somehow got watching the bowl games.  And somehow, I got hooked on football.  Have been ever since, but not on college, just pro.  Well, we also have a local pro indoor football team, the Fever, and I love them, too!  Go #9!!

I know very few of the rules. I need to figure that part out. I just cheer when they score, boo when the other team scores. I enjoyed how interactive the game was. I didn't realize there was so much audience involvement. And the energy in the arena was crazy. Apparently it was fairly unique, this latest Duke game. We have a reputation of being a very quiet stadium with a mostly calm audience.

They built this arena with millions of dollars from rich alum and gave them all the best seats. Which they've got for life and then can pass on to whoever when they die. The next best seats go to those who buy tickets. Then the students are relegated to the unfortunate seats. The result is that, unlike pretty much every other college, there's a bunch of old people around the court, seated and quiet.

This game, though, the students were wild and it energized a lot of the old fogies. Players said it was the loudest they'd ever heard it in there. And when we won, fans stormed the court. So that was pretty cool to see.

The national sport of Germany is football. The (national) team is amazing and DH and I frequently watch games on TV. We also love watching the "winter" sports (cross-country skiing, luge, bobsledding, biathlon, etc.) DH is the bigger sports fan though.

When I was still living in the U.S. I was a huge ice hockey fan. Here in Germany I watch some of the international football (i.e., soccer) games, but that's about it.

Favourite sports:

-Equestrian (Both watch and do) particularly dressage and show jumping.
-Soccer/Football (Both watch and do)
-Biathlon, Ski Jumping and Cross-Country
-Javelin Throw and Pole Vaulting

And my mom and I enjoy watching Tennis together, since she is a tennis fan. I also like to watch figure skating, and gymnastics.

Been involved and watched the first two since childhood, and always watched the others since childhood too. I did do some cross country skiing, and target shooting - but it has been awhile since! I also did archery, but it has been awhile also.

And of course ballet. It might not be labelled as a "sport", but ballet dancer's are definitely elite athletes.

Nope!  One of the things I love most about my husband is that he DOES NOT make me sit through sports all the time!  Just Track & Field.  I've gotten so I recognize some people so it's entertaining from that aspect.  But watching people run in spandex and what amounts to underwear?  No thanks.

Nope, no sports of any kind here. Our son played HS football and also played in college, so I do know quite about football. We went to all of his games and tailgated with the other parents and had a great time. But I'm not one to actually sit down and watch a game. Nor do I watch other sports. Rick enjoys sports and that's fine. While he's watching a football game (the poor guy is a long-suffering Eagles fan), I will either work on the computer or go to bed with a good book.

Go Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. These area is crazy for the local sports teams. I watch football the most, especially since we now have a family fantasy football league.
