I have extremely picky British Shorthairs, really picky. My friend in our office in Rome, Italy suggest an Italian brand that she uses called Farmina N&D that is coming to the USA in a few weeks.

I received samples after requesting on the Facebookpage, https://www.facebook.com/FarminaUSA

I received the Wild Boar and Herring. This product is a quality you don't see much here.

If you have cats that are difficult with dry food I suggest you try it. The samples are very generous and beautifully packaged.

The USA website is, http://usa.farmina.com/?q=content/line/nd-grain-free-feline

There is also a 36% protein line.

I can't see the Guarantee Analysis to figure out the carbs (on the USA website).  Is it actually low carb?  Grain free doesn't really mean low carb, which is the ultimate goal in ANY cat food, dry or wet.

Thank you for sharing this info.  How nice of them to give samples!

Farmina is apparently very high-quality, for a kibble. My dog forum is all atwittery about it being released in the US so I actually gave in and ordered some (dog and cat food). I don't feed my cats kibble on a regular basis, plus it's too expensive to consider as a regular thing (at chewy.com, $9.99-$12.99 for 3.3 pounds!), but I thought I'd try it. Haven't gotten my order yet (scheduled for Tuesday) so we'll see how the dogs do on it. I don't know if I'll use the cat food for the ferret or as treats for the cats.

There was a discussion awhile back about Farmina and the conclusion was that it is a good food, comparable to Orijen Cat and Kitten, although the Orijen features more meat protein sources. Farmina does contain potatoes and some dehydrated fruit, whereas there is no potato in the Orijen but it does contain some low glycemic carbs. Doing a quick calculation of the Farmina Wild Boar, the carb content looks to be about 15% using the online calculator below, and 18% on a DMB.

You can calculate carb content, here : http://fnae.org/carbcalorie.html

I have a cat with chicken allergies. I received a sample of the GF Lamb and Blueberry which did not have chicken listed in the ingredients so I ordered the large bag. When it came I checked the ingredients again and listed was chicken fat and chicken protein concentrate. I called Farmina and they said they would check. A rep called me back and said she called Italy and spoke to the product manager. His explanation was a translation error . Do I believe them? Sounds strange to me. I d love some input. I guess if he eats it and starts scratching I ll know they lied.

So they are saying it's NOT chicken fat and chicken protein concentrate?  What is the translation error?  Is it supposed to say Lamb fat and Lamb protein concentrate ?  I don't have any idea on this, but would hate to have to have my cat suffer needlessly if it isn't a translation mistake

I believe all N&D (grain free and low grain) have chicken except Low Grain Codfish & Orange formula which has single animal protein (fish) source.

It is very good quality cat food.
