Hi,

After reading advice on here and other forums, I'm switching to a wet food only (grain-free), low fiber diet for my cat once he is healthy enough.  Is chicken generally considered okay for a mega colon diet?  I'm referring to the boneless, skinless, kind you bake in the oven.  Thanks!

I don't know of any reason why not. Avoiding certain types of protein is usually something you do with inflammation (IBD) or allergies. I remember one person in the Yahoo! chronic constipation and megacolon group recommending Tiki Cat chicken flavors because they are low in starch.

Thanks!  I just wanted to double check.  And I'm totally going to check out the Tiki Cat food.  I almost forgot I need to watch the starch content as well.

It sounds like you are talking about giving your little one home cooked chicken breast for his meals, at least for awhile, rather than cat food.  If this is the case, please be aware that this would NOT be100% nutritionally complete.  This would be ok to feed for a few days, but not for too long

Thanks for the tip :).  I wouldn't feed him just chicken alone but now that you said that I will make sure that he just doesn't eat only the chicken while leaving the rest untouched.  I'm just beginning to delve into the complex world of cat nutrition and any info is always greatly appreciated!
