Is it ok, or better to rotate diffeent flavors and brands? Or to stick with a few and rotate those.   Like if you find a good deal.  Or coupon.

Has anyone tried the Iams Purrfect Delicacies. I found a coupon for $2 off of 3.

For sure, take advantage of deals when you see them.

I haven't tried the one you speak of and it does use tapioca starch, but if the price is right for you, I'm sure it'll be fine in rotation with others.

What do I do?:

It could be 1-2 weeks on chicken, then switch to 1-2 weeks on beef and so on.   Throw in lamb/duck/venison/pork/rabbit...whatever you can find that's within your price range and acceptable ingredients.

Since chicken and beef are on the lower end of the price range for me, I throw in other novel proteins like venison or rabbit occasionally.

Unfortunately my guy seems to vomit on turkey; tried 2 different turkey brands as well with no luck. So, that's 1 out of the picture.

I don't feed Iams. I feel there are better foods out there for the price.  I think it is better to first pick several foods that meet your personal criteria, and then just keep an eye out for deals on those specific foods.... and definitely stock up, when that happens! I won't buy just any food, simply because it's a bargain. But I do stock up on on the foods I prefer, when a deal can be found.

I think it's a really good idea to offer healthy cats several different brands of wet food on a regular basis. From my point of view, the primary concern is food recalls. If you have been feeding your cat the same one food for ages, and it happens to get recalled, you are stuck having to find an alternative immediately. We all know how picky some cats can get about their food, and by offering them several choices on a regular basis you'll always have something they're familiar with even if one of the regulars is pulled off the store shelves.  I think it is important to use 2-3 unrelated brands of canned food whenever possible, not just 2-3 flavors of the same brand. Sometimes when a recall happens, it can be the entire brand (and often related sub-brands as well), not just one flavor.

There are few ways to do a wet food rotation....

Offer one food for a couple weeks, then switch to another.

Use one food for a day, another food the next day, etc.

Use a different food for each meal. (this is what I usually do)

Obviously, this pertains to wet food. Switching dry foods abruptly can often lead to digestive upset for many cats. But I do know some people who still feed dry, who buy two different  brands and blend them together 50/50, and feed the mix. This way if there is a dry food recall, their cat is already familiar (& eating) another brand.
