Hi everyone. So I have noticed the cat mama is not eating, she was eating a lot before labor . I did not change the food, I have been feeding her wellness kitten food since I got her. She also has diarrhea...(maybe it's because she ate all four placentas?) should I take her to the vet ?
The weak kitten is still weak. I just went to check on them and it was lying few inches away from mama... I guess I have to take the other kittens away again. Or should I just take this kitten out and feed formula?
Thank u everyone for helping me and giving me advices all the time

This is not a good sign hon, the baby I mean. Yes, take him out and care for him as you would with an orphan, feeding wise, then always return it to momma.
But feed as if he is not eating at all from her.
You need to turn him around right now, if you are able to, or you will likely lose him, sorry to say. Laying inches away...yeah that's no good.

He will need to get his will back, survival mode, if he ever had one, it's hard to say, maybe not, he is giving up too easily.

Do you know the proper positioning for feeding? ALWAYS on all fours as he would nurse from momma. NEVER on his back, ever.

The nipples that come with the nursing bottles kits? Use the super long looking one....I know I know, it looks crazy big, but for some darn reason I can't say, the babies always seem to take to that big thing faster and better than the smaller more normal looking ones.

Cut the tip of the nipple with an X, small amts at a time so you don't overcut it . The correct size cut will be while holding the bottle upside down, no fluid will come out, but if you give it a light little shake downward, it will come out.
This will prevent too much coming out at once and drowning the poor little baby. Be patient, it takes around the 4th time of trying to feed with the bottle for them to finally start sucking it, and then it's on from there :)

Be sure that momma will still allow him to snuggle for warmth as well as clean his potty area. If after returning to momma after feeding time is done, check on him now and then. If you see he is off on his own again, she may not be caring for him at all due to thinking he is too weak to survive.
Moms know these things however this is with her care alone, it does not mean that without your help and intervention he will not get stronger and be fine in a couple weeks.

As for mom, she isn't eating because she ate all of the placentas.
No worries, she will be fine soon and back to eating normally. Diarrhea is caused by the placentas as well.

Agree with that.  That said, keep an eye on her anyway to be on the safe side. For example, look out if her temp will raise above the usual for cats.

Infections and inflammations do occur after all now and then. In such a case, its hurry to the vet.

But this with eating placentas is the most probable here yes.

Good luck!

Sorry to butt in but I know you'd said mom cat had no milk after the first was born can I ask when it came in? My cat still has no sign of any milk when i squeeze gently (though there is white crusty type covering on the nipples) so I'm wondering if she'll be like your cat and it will come in a bit later as opposed to the usual 24-48 hours prior to birth

catwoman707 catwoman707 I lost the kitten last night ...
I took the kitten out last night and I found that his body is colder than the other kittens. I was so scared so I made a little nest for him right away and put warm water bottles inside. He was crying and I kept on petting him... After his body is warmed, he barely drank 1ml of the formula( I even tried to feed with a syringe) I helped him eliminate and his urine was almost clear, very very light yellow. Then i put him back right beside mama and took the other kittens out. He didn't try to find the nipples, he just moved his arms and legs a little.
Maybe I shouldn't have put him back. Because one hour later, after I took a shower, he was lying by himself again. He was very cold and I called the vet. The vet told me to warm him up again. After few minutes he started to cry as if he was in pain, I tried to pet him in my hand and he slowly stopped breathing.
I couldn't even sleep last night...very sad

I think it was after the third kitten(the first kitten was born in the early morning and the third kitten was born in the afternoon) because i could see white liquid aound their mouth

Very possible he was, if there was something wrong on him.  and this means, he was doomed, nothing you could do. Count yourself lucky he wasnt fighting on for several weeks more, and crashed for good then, at three weeks age perhaps.

We had something such not long ago.  A very pityfying case, the owner fighting oh so fighting 24/7  week after week from a tragic start..

After several weeks the little one began to put on weigh, began to look like a healthy little kitten, although small for its age... We all though it was victory, just the celebration left.   And then, just a couple of days later, she crashed all of a sudden...  A last desperate rush to the vet, in wain.  It took  hardly more than 3-4 hours. It was something with the heart the vet said...  There were never any chance...

Be also soothed he at least got a good death in your loving hands, if death is ever good it was here..
