Hello All! I just decided to join not to long ago so I wanted to introduce myself and my little furry companion... This is my sweet baby, Brewski. We live in San Diego, CA. My fiance and I adopted him when he was 8 months old (he is now almost 2 yrs old) from a shelter despite the fact that my fiance was really allergic to cats. He knew how much I loved cats so he decided it would be worth taking allergy meds to make me happy. Thankfully, after 2-3 weeks the allergies magically stopped and he has never had to take an Allegra since...that's when we knew Brewski was meant to be in our little family.

This spoiled little fur ball is different than any cat i have encountered...he is more of a dog than anything. He loves other people/animals and loves being the center of attention. He has quite the wardrobe and his favorite activity is chirping at birds out the window, scratching up fine leather furniture and to jump on your lap (but only when you are using the toilet lol).

Hello again and can't wait to correspond with everyone later!

I chuckled over the comment about him getting on your lap while you were on the toilet.  One of my cats does that and it is about the only time he wants to get on my lap so I feel bad when I have to dislodge him.  Unfortunately I can't just sit there on the toilet forever just to make him happy.

Beautiful tabby! If I put sweaters on mine they just fall over and refuse to move! Hope you have many years of enjoyment with your companion!

That's EXACTLY how I feel every morning when I am getting ready for work...always wish I wasn't running late so we can have some more lap bonding time
I wish he was more of a lap cat overall :/

Mr. Brewski is adorable and your SO is definitely a keeper.  It was very nice of him to take allergy medicine so you could get a cat.  Welcome to TCS!

I definitely agree, I don't know what I did right to end up with such a perfect kitty and significant other :)

He is too cute! Grey tabby cats are my favorite! I had a cat growing up who was very similar to a dog, she even chewed on shoes and chased her tail!

I have a similar story about my then boyfriend/future husband. We rented a house together in Dec 1994. I went over to pick up the key from the landlord and then went to the house. It was a cold night. Just as I went to the door, a small kitty came running up to see me.

We moved in that weekend and for the next several months we got to know this neighbor cat. Her name was Veronica. The neighbors let her out during the day while they were at work. She had started to visit other neighbors on the street and must have been well acquainted with the previous tenants in our house.

My husband had said many times he was allergic to cats. I refused to believe him. As the days grew longer and warmer, Veronica would come over to see us when we working in the garden. My husband started to grow very fond of her. He would sit out on a lounge chair for a nap and Veronica would sit in his lap. He discovered he wasn't so allergic after all. His eyes would get itchy if he touched his face after petting her but that was about it.

Her owners told us in July that they were moving to Alaska and that Veronica would go too. We were very sorry to see her go but it gave me the green light to start looking for our own cat.

A month and a half later, I found Leonard. He was a year old brown tabby with a sweet disposition. My husband took to him immediately and they became best buddies. He had never had a pet growing up because his mother and sisters were allergic to everything.

Leonard lived to age 16 and passed away from a liver ailment in 2011. We loved him very much. It was very difficult to see him in declining health the last few months. I was lucky to stay home with him and take him outside for short walks in the sunshine. They really seemed to perk him up.

We just visited San Diego for a vacation in December and loved it. We're going to Palm Springs in April. I really need the sunshine during the winter.

Wow what a great story, thank you for sharing
I believe that animals come into our lives with purpose and I am happy that was the case for you as well. I am very sorry to hear about Leonard, but glad that you were able to give him a great life. Are you planning on getting another kitty sometime soon? Enjoy your time in PS!!  My fiances mom has a house out there and we used to live there for a while, now we are back in San Diego but loveee coming out there on the weekends. Have a fun & safe trip
