View media item 203243 So I got this box I had taking space in my closet and I cut out a door..I put in a clean white sheet and made it comfy..the top part is open but I put a cushion on top so its nice and dark till the moment comes ...when she is in labor ill close the little door and remove the cushion so I can watch her from above .

I put it in my room where its quiet and dark..its next to my bed..ever since I put it there she goes in and out just to eat and get some lovings from mommy then she is right back in..I want her to have nice memories in there and feel safe so she'll want to come back to have her babies there.

I live in a 2 bdrm apt, its not that big, I have an on suite and she loves being in here plus the other bedroom and bathroom is my sons and its always closed..its off limits for kittied.. so she doesnt have much of a choice. ; )
I guess ill keep doing the waiting game.

NOTE: Since she is a first time mom do you think I should cut the umbilical cord for her and like that all she has to do is eat the placenta and not be worried to bite the baby? It scares me..I dont know if she will be a good mommie. I raised her and her brother from 5 days old with lots of love but I dont know if that makes a difference.

I know I know im rambling. ..; ( sorry im nervous. :boohoo:

Your own nails are just fine.  dental floss is useful for these who are disgusted by touching anything.

Moms own teeths arent entirely bacteriefree, so normal clean nails works well.

Dont ever use sharp scissors.  IF you use scissors, use blunt scissors.

Nay, you "shouldnt", but it is wise if you are prepared to step in, if she runs into difficulties, or isnt good mom as you say.  Especially first timers are often unsure in the beginning.

Also, if she has a big litter, dont let her eat more than 4 placentas.  there is some risk for heavy diarrheas if they eat many placentas, lotsa of protein and nourishment at once...  Surely also some bacterias.

Good luck!

Thank you Stefan..sounds good...I will go on those sites now. ..I didnt know your nail was ok to use. Im not squeamish at all specially when it comes to innocent animals who sometimes depend on us to get better..I think im ready for her. All I need is some small towels for babies..ill pick up tomorrow. Thanks again for your comments both of you.:wavey:

Re towels and such.  Fleece and flannel is best, esp when they get nails.  which they do get quite soon.
