Well we got the news back on Dad. Just to recap - my Dad is 84 yrs old and a week ago Sunday we had to take him into the ER as he could not breathe, his heart was racing and his ankles/legs were swollen.

The Dr. said that two of the valves of Dad's heart are not pumping the fluid out of his system like they should. They don't do anything for this, except to prescribe Lasix (sp) a diaretic. He thinks Dad had been eating very salty food and his heart could not handle the extra fluid it caused. Incidently, my sister (who he lives with) was out of town for two weeks prior to the ER visit and I guess he lived on sardine sandwiches and frozen dinners during that time.

All the other tests that they ran on Dad came out good. So he is still kicking. Thank God.

Glad dad is ok! Tell him to stay on his Lasix and be a good boy!
It'll make him pee like a race horse though so don't take it at night.

Something like that is very scary; glad to hear he is doing better, Nora. Keep your chin and many prayers be with you and your dad.

Thank you all for your kind words of support. It was scary and even though he is 84 and has lived a long life, I don't want to say goodbye. It is entirely selfish I know. My Dad says he is ready to go. We believe that if you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will go to Heaven when you die - so he is not afraid to die at all. It is another journey to make.

Nora, just read this after catching up on the boards....sometimes I am gone for days from the site. I hope you are doing better as is your Dad. My Dad is 70 and just married his 30 yr old girlfriend in the Florida Keys. OMG, how cool is that? He's earned the fun. He's great, nothing weird with him, a decent, decent man. I hope your father makes a remarkable turn for the better. Thank you for being there for me when Freddie was diagnosed w/leukemia, too. I wish I could be of better support for you here this time, now. BEST WISHES FROM THE HOUSE IN MAPLE VALLEY, WASHINGTON STATE:
