Apparently, when I actually socialize (not that often) or even talking with my daughter, I constantly talk about my cat(now cats, since I just added a 2nd) and she gets upset.  She has a dog she never talks about.  My cat(s) are my constant companions and I swear that we communicate!  They know the "routine", answer when I talk to them (by name) and let me know what they want.  Very good companions!!!

Some people just don't get it....

That's why being a member of TCS is a good thing--you can talk about your cats all you want here, post photos, brag, etc., and no one will get tired of hearing about it.

I think everyone here can plead guilty to long and involved cat conversations

I guess the thing to do is work out who likes to hear all about it.

I'm sure I communicate with my cats too.. we live share our lives with them and so a very special relationship happens.

Whenever we talk to our friends or family about our cats they become positively "catatonic" with boredom!  None of them have any pets at all!  Now, that's something we can't understand!  But that being said, we actually support all of them in their decisions NOT to have pets, because since they are not "animal people", they know they won't give an animal the kind of home it deserves.  So they have enough respect for animals not to subject them to a home where they wouldn't get the full attention they deserve.

Don't worry about it. I don't know one cat lover who doesn't talk to and talk about their cats. Some of my co-workers think I'm a few whiskers short of a full set. Others (the ones who also have cats) are more than happy to join me in cat conversations. Those are the ones I tend to hang out with more. It works.

This is the one place where we all feel "normal"!
At least I don't constantly bore people with anecdotes about my grandchildren. Oh no! Maybe I do that, too??
