my  (9 mo?- born feral) sweet kitty is pretty active & has an appetite.

he has normal poops sometimes but...

often he has stuckons where he scoots to clean his butt  because he can't get the poop out and then he has almost diarrhea, really soft poop. ( this has happened  happened 3x this week so far)

He eats mostly canned wet food with some dry when I'm gone for the day and he won't drink water so I add liquid to his canned food. he pees pretty often.

He has seen vets 3x ! in his short life- when he was neutered, for his booster shots & then for worms.

The vets here tend to push the expensive Rx diets,

Does anyone have any advice?

He doesn't like canned pumpkin-maybe I'll try cooking some fresh winter squash for him?

should I take him to the vet again?

thanks!

Welcome to the site :wavey:

Sorry you are having poop problems with your kitty.

Do you always use the same brand of tinned food or do you use different ones ?

more or less the same- he didn't like the expensive  organic , no grain type food.

he usually eats fancy feast or friskies which he seems to enjoy and some dry food-Bench & field? from Trader Joes.

Ok have you noticed if its just certain flavours that cause the hard or loose poops.

I'm thinking that maybe fancy feast and friskies just don't suit him. Maybe trying a completely different brand might make a difference ( if he will eat it of course )

i will try some other food -with a different type of protein -in case he has an allergy or sensitivity.

it seems like it really comes out of nowhere,

which makes me think a vet will not be able to determine the cause.
