Ritz, thank you so much for the Feliway suggestion.  Too late.  By the time I got to read your message he had already escaped from my sisters house.  It's now Thursday and I haven't seen him yet.  With so much snow coming I don't know if I'll ever see him again.

At least we got him to the vet yesterday, got his shots and some eye meds.  Just praying he found a safe, warm place to ride out the storm.

Sorry to hear this news.  I'm praying too he found a safe haven.  I am going to the colony I help take care of either today or tomorrow to make sure they make it through the storm.

If you know where he was originally taken from/trapped, he might return there (or try to).  Depending on the circumstances, go to that place, put up posters, alert animal control in your area, talk to the neighbors.

Is he microchipped?  Ear-tipped?  Ear-tipping as you may know is the international symbol that this cat is part of a managed community cat colony; this is good or bad.  Good, because animal control sometimes will immediately release the cat upon capture or bad if they don't notice the ear tipping, take it to the shelter and euthanize the cat because mistakenly deemed unfriendly.

FWIW/FYI and others:  some rescue organizations will microchip feral/stray cats at cost, with the kind of microchip that you don't have to pay a yearly fee.
